Could have been, Bernie. I've never gotten a definitive answer from any of the Troopers (mostly retired guys) that I've talked to. We discussed this a bit before here:

The reason I ask is I have a PAC RT charger and I don't know which radio (portable) will fit. http://specialservicemustang.net/forums/showthread.php?t=249

Bernie
I have seen 2 pictures and can't remember where of them using HT90's. The retired guys I know were pretty sure it was the HT90's also. They may have used the MT500 in some areas as they all agreed that not all the cars used the convertacom. The trooper that drove mine said it was switch activated, no convertacom. The HT90 measures appx 2 5/8" wide by 1 3/4" thick if that will help you with the opening size on your convertacom. From the picture it looks about the right size for the HT90. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bud,
I don't know if mine came with one either, I was curious as to what radio went with it. I know Mike has a picture in the resto doc of one (charger) with a remote switch which I don't have so I may not use it.

I have footage from the Real Stories series of a '92 CV from FHP, and what I think is the repeater switch....which is just a toggle mounted on a small bracket next to the radio. I have a Motorola switch, which is also just a toggle, but looks a little nicer. I'll probably end up using it in my '93.

I'll post up some pics when I'm home again.

They only used two wires in the control cable for it so any single pole single throw switch on a bracket would work. The motorola switch is nice and that is what I plan to use also. The pictures I saw of the HT90 radios were here in the in service section under FHP and picture # 7 shows an 84 traffic stop and the trooper on the right has an HT90 on his belt and the other one I saw was on the FAST web site in merchandise they have some artwork. There is a portrait called pals that shows a trooper with an HT90. I know it is just a painting or print but they must have referenced it from something.

Assuming I find the Motorola switch, where would it and the convert a com go?

Switch could go wherever you want it. I've heard stories of the convertacoms being mounted behind the consoles towards the rear seat, but it's not verified info. It would definitely have to be in a spot where the user would have had easy access.

I think thats why alot of them only used the switch and not the convertacom cuz of the bulky size of it. Much easier to charge the radio at home or wherever especially with the lack of room in the mustang.

I'll try to find the Moto switch and see where the convert a com could have been installed. I'm leaning toward the HT90 for the radio if it will fit my c-a-c.
