This question concerns non SSP coupes. I've already had 3 5.0 Mustangs with 85 MPH speedos. My 38000 mile coupe also has an 85 MPH speedo. I had a guy try and tell me tonight that only 2.3 Mustangs came with these and that 5.0s had 140 MPH speedos? Any input appreciated.

Can't find the 88 brochure, but both the 87 and 89 Mustang catalogs show GT's with 85 mph units. Was part of the whole 55 mph campaign, if the speedo went only to 85, then 55 mph looks faster.......god what crappy days those were.....
The other guy is wrong.

On non-SSP mustangs the 140 speedo showed up in'89.

This is correct the 140 started showing up in 1989... All previous were 85 MPH...

Another thing is the 2.3 cars tach only went up to 6k while the 5.0 went to 7k. Regardless of MPH.

Not sure I would even want to wind up that little stock 4-banger to 7K.:eek: :D
