Well I finally received my SSP after 8 weeks of waiting and have a few questions. Did this car originally have black 10 holes or silver. The reason I'm asking is because the car is 100% original and unmolested and has silver rims. Even the spare with a worn out VR60 is silver. I also found the unit # marked on the rear licence plate space which I already knew from the original service records but cool none the less.

They could have stripped the paint off. The only '87-'89 AZ shot in the gallery shows black wheels. http://www.specialservicemustang.net/Gallery/images/AZ/AZ2.jpg
I'm trying to think if there were any '87-'89 AZ ssp's in the Real Stories dvds. Worth checking into.

Just about everybody blacks them out no matter what the year.

Per the 1989 SSP Brochure, you could order cars with the "black-out delete" treatment on the wheels.

http://www.specialservicemustang.net/1989_bro_page2.htm

The prior year brochures do not make mention of that option, so it could have been an '89-only deal (especially since they went to the silver as standard the following year).

Thanks, Bernie.

I have heard of individual Troopers stripping the wheels, like Brian said (Bret knows an FHP Trooper that did it to his cars), but I guess we need to see some more in-service pics to see what the deal is.

Hey....forgot about that one. That was the guy who sold cars right?

What about the Trooper?

Yea, it was Al Kettner, I lost track of him around 10 years ago, but found his name as a salesman at a Dodge dealer in orlando a few months ago.

Havent talked to the Trooper in a while, missing those 3 still makes me ill......

You still need to try and find the guy that bought those....maybe he will let us take some pics of them.

What year Mustang did the Trooper who stripped his wheels have? (if you remember...or maybe your Father does)

I just got off the phone with the original owner ( after retirement ) and he said the rims were black. He ended up stripping and clearing them so mystery solved. His freind bought 6 of them and he got this one because it was in the best shape. He owned it until 6 months ago when the guy I bought it from bought it. I'm glad I bought it!

That was the same one, it was the 86 he had. Yea, need to call him and touch base.

Been offline, computer hit snag, my buddy Frank just got it going. Nice to have friend who works for Dell......
