Hello,i am the original buyer of my car from the chp.I purchased the car from them when they were at the old motor carrier unit on meadowview rd in south sacramento.I have all of the documentation the chp had on the car since it was new.The cars documents are still in the chp folder they gave to me.My car has been in the garage since the day i bought it from the chp on 9.1.87.The car is in excellent condition and has not been hacked up or mutalated in any way.The 302 engine has been replaced with a 1969 351.The car sits on cobra r wheels and has a/c .I just joined this site and with some help i want to add all the correct chp equipment back into the car.The car is still the orig chp black with the grey interior still in perfect shape. I had the roof and doors painted when i bought it.What do you think of my plans for my car ??? RICH

Rich, welcome to the site, and you've come to the right place if you are looking to find the original CHP equipment for your car. :)

If you have pics to post, we'd love to see them. You are also welcome to contribute to our tech section with any of the documentation that you have for your car. We have a documentation section located at:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net/Documentation.html

but also have a bunch of build sheets and buck tags posted up as well:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net/Technical.html

Are you planning on a full resto back to in-service condition?

I want to restore the car to in-service condition minus the interior radio equipment. I will be starting this project in the spring. I have the original buck tags, build sheet in perfect condition (72-0406), all CHP purchase orders, Misc receipts, etc.

Thank you for the help,
Rich

Welcome to the group. Your car sounds like it could be a great source for documenting the older CHP units. Not many originals like yours left out there, esp. the early ones. How do you use your car now and what do you plan to do with it after your restoration project?

I would love to check it out as it sits now, do you ever show it? If not, you should bring it out!

Rich,

Nice to have you here. And yet another 85 CHP surfaces - YES! Andy's is fully restored (CHP #8397). Both jarhed123 (CHP #8302) and I (CHP #8395) have our 85's in the body shop undergoing a "just-shy-of-in-service" restoration.

I recently purchased the following parts for my CHP:

I'll put you in touch with the gentleman I purchased them from (they were not cheap).

Andy - once Rich posts some pictures, will you revise your Amigos picture to include him with the rest of us??? Marcos and I will have to update our avatars. :)

I do not use the car at all any more it just sits in the garage. That is why i want to restore the car to in service cond minus the running gear and interior radio equip. The engine is a 1969 351 with A/C .I want to enjoy the car again and think that adding CHP equip would just add to the cars value and fun at shows. My plans are to drive the car to shows and weekend use only. The car is really fun to drive and i know that some hard core restorers may not agree with my engine choice but thats ok.I have owned this car for 23 years and i dont ever have any plans on selling it.Thank you for your reply and take a look at the pics before i start my project on the car in the spring. THANKS AGAIN RICH

Im almost afraid to ask what does "not cheap" mean?

$190 - Both CHP spotlights
$100 - both antennae (roof & 1/4 panel)
$200 - all 3 rear deck lights

The phrase "not cheap" is a relative term I guess. I am happy with the parts I bought, so I'm certainly not complaining.
