True, but STOPPING them at 130mph can be an issue! :p

OK, it's one week to show time! Everything kicks off next Friday with the evening cruise to Sonic and the show follows the next day. Hope all you SSP fans are ready to go, preferably with your cars but at the very least as spectators. Along with all the great vehicle entries and exhibits, the rip-roaring noontime Code 3 parade through town itself is worth the trip to beautiful Ripon! There will be a big CHP presence at the show this year including attendance by Commissioner Joe Farrow.

Don't miss out on this great event or you'll regret it!

Show Report: The weather cooperated perfectly and the show was a great success with a record number of total entries. This year the B4C Camaros outnumbered the SSP Mustangs five vs. two (c'mon all you West Coast Ford faithful, get your cars out to this important show!) but I managed to land a second place in the restored class where the voting has traditionally leaned very heavily for the Bowties.

Lots of good event pics here:

Also got some good shots of my car with it's CHP model year stablemate for 1988, this one being a very nicely restored example:

Hi Michael, Looks like a beautiful sunny day in ole CA. I like the "dippy". To whom does that belong? The car came from SoCal Joe and is owned by an LASD deputy. The restoration work was accomplished by a Federal agent out of Sacramento who was also at the show and gave me a lot of info. and history on the unit. The car was actually repainted at California Prison Industries in Folsom, the same folks who build pushbars, racks and other items for the CHP. Like the '80s Caprices, I think it really shows well with a Mustang:

Michael,

Thanks for posting the show pics and congrats on your 2nd place pick. Looks like you had alot of competition. Who had the other SSP?

Michael,

Thanks for posting the show pics and congrats on your 2nd place pick. Looks like you had alot of competition. Who had the other SSP?Thanks. The other CHP Mustang is the one discussed here:

The new owner is very interested in correcting some items and freshing up this older restoration. He was able to purchase a CHP Micor and some other pieces at the show and receive needed assistance from many of us there to help him along. He's in law enforcement and is the caretaker of that beautiful '40 Plymouth squad also being shown.

I also took a few pics, put them on my Fotki album. It was an awesome car show with a great turnout. :)
