A forum member put his one of his SSP's up on Ebay, so I thought I'd let the rest of the members know about it in case they might be interested -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1986-Ford-Mustang-SSP-Florida-Highwaty-Patrol-Pursuit_W0QQitemZ250470964359QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS _Cars_Trucks?hash=item3a513b9c87&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A2148

Personally, I'd re-install the stock side windows and drive it as-is, but I'm crazy like that. I think it has character. Hope it finds a good home.

no offense but its another dealer trying to gouge...... Love the BIN

(and I recognise the yard)

I say we choose NOT to give them advertising space here. (especially since they are a forum member that chooses not to give all of the other members the opportunity) :No no:

My 86 CHP looked like that when I bought it and I only paid $1200. Interesting BIN alright. Doug

Given the "tough" prices cars are selling at now (which I can personally attest), I can't see it going for near that amount.

The only reason I posted it up was my desire to keep the car among the SSP family. I have no qualms with people selling their SSP's on Ebay, but I wish they'd give the members on the forums a shot at it first.

Everyone on this board and the other site check ebay everyday, some even have it set up to get listings e-mailed to them automatically. The ssp community is tight nit, it would have ended up here anyway, so members here have a chance, they even have a determined time frame,

And to DramaQueen, who and how is he "gouging" I think this gentleman is a member here and as a moderator, your comments? You kinda give me a hard time on the UHP car, if you would like your site to grow and be a nice place for people to come to, "good luck with the sell" goes a long way.

Lane,

I sent you a pm last week regarding the UHP thread. I chose not to make that issue public. Today you feel compelled to reference me as DramaQueen because I share a different opinion than you do about your friend (VintageRacers) ebay ad. You are entitled to your opinion, and you can express it here, without resorting to name calling. This thread is about whether or not we want to give dealers advertising space on this site. So far the answer is NO (based on the poll). If you read the entire thread you will also see that numerous members think the car is overpriced. It's his car, he can ask whatever he wants. I think it is way overpriced, regardless of what he has done to the car. You popped in last week to make the "to many negative comments on this site" post, then chose not to respond when Bernie asked you to explain why you felt that way. Like I stated to you in my PM. If you want to be a positive contributing member that is fine, if not, stay over on org. Adressing issues like this with members like you is a perfect example of how we (the staff here) control the site, allowing it to "grow and be a nice place for people to come to". WE don't do nascar, free giveaways or light shows. We also don't let people wander in every now and then, take a shot, then scurry off till next time.

x100.

It's funny how the majority of members here can participate in discusions and have disagreements without pot-stirring and name calling, yet it's only a few of the same people who can't (and they are the ones who don't contribute, just like to throw out their opinions when it's convenient).

I will keep to myself from now on, the statement above is what set me off, saying "dealer trying to gouge" I think, and everyone will agree is borderline "name calling" and from a moderator?

As far as the car and price, I think the Idaho 86 car is reaching 3k. with no steel wheels and caps, and it would be safe to say you would have to do half the work to it, that has already been done to the FHP. I assume most would prefer the FHP, it may sell? And I have never meet Vintagracer, dont know the guy sorry.

Lane,

The guy bought the car for somewhere near $1800 (I'd guess less). Are you trying to say that he's put anywhere near $3000 worth of work into it?

The Idaho car, which is extremely rare (not that I care, I buy my cars because I like them) is being sold by someone who isn't affliated with either site that we know of. The seller would originally have taken closer to 2K for it, per members that have called about it. It's obviously going for more for that. You know the whole story about demand for something. We have no idea what was originally paid for the car, but the asking price certainly wasn't anywhere near $5K.

No one is asking you to keep to yourself, but to defend someone who you don't even know, based on your perception of what is "name calling", seems a bit odd to me. The way you did it doesn't work here. Send (or respond) to a PM and you would have gotten it figured out without the mess.

That FHP car, as it sits, is a $3K car all day long. These things aren't gold coins or winning lottery tickets.

That's not what I heard.

Dedicated to the promotion, protection, and restoration of the 1982-1993 Special Service Police Mustang.

Who doesn't get it? I don't see the word exploitation in there. Buying an SSP to keep it from getting it raced out is protection. Buying an SSP for cheap and flipping it on ebay to the highest bidder is exploitation.
