Well here it is. I have been around Mustangs all my life and recently acquired my 7th, being a 92 Nebraska SSP. My question is that I am looking at putting in an electric fan but need to know if my car has the 130 AMP alternator or something else. I am very sure it is motorcraft. Anyone know what part number I should be looking for and where on the alternator. Thanks.

Cables are the same, your car could have had the 130amp as it was an option. I do not have the PN handy, but the 2 alts look totally different. Do you have a pic you can post?

The 130 alternator has an internal fan.

Well mine has an external fan so I guess that answers my question. Now the hunt for an alternator. Thanks.

I guess that was not it. If I am able to locate a 130 amp alternator for my 92 is the wiring different or will it plug right into what I have. I am not sure what the amperage is on mine if it is not the 130 option. What is the thought of going with an aftermarket alternator like the PA Performance 130 amp. I really do not want to cut wires and that is what the PA one does.

I went to an auction in Lincoln and all the car's were '90 and '91's and they all had regular appearing 85 amp units. I've had 2 '89 FHP car's and they had lestek (SP) 130 amp units with an external fan with a metal disc type fan bad cover. None of these car's had any of the typical SSP gear, no 160 speedo, OC, not even full consoles.

My 1990 WI car had the disc type 130 alternator as well
My 93 fhp car has the later 3g 130 type
It is visible different than the stock 85's
