Hello All,
My name is Hector , I live in deep south Texas (mcallen ). I purchased my first ssp a couple of months ago and enjoy driving it very much.
1991 ssp ,5spd, white car w-grey int.. 2-spot lights .
I was told it was a Tx car but after running car fax, it comes up that it's an Arkansas car ???? DSO 23
Have not come up with any more info than that .?
Any help with info would be great ...
thanks all.

Your buck tags may verify the DSO or even the agency:

Yes , the buck tags do tell me the DSO ... what i don't get is the fact that the DSO is Memphis and my car fax states Arkansas ...DSO 230098
So .. is my car a Tenn SSP or an Arkansas SSP ???
I noticed in the tech section that Arkansas had maybe 2-3?? cars ????
thankx

All, sorry
my comment on it being a Tenn or Ark car?? was due to my DSO indicating Memphis ....so i figured Tenn.... My car fax indicates Arkansas ..
Well it turns out there is a West Memphis Ark city ...
thanks

Hector,
You can't always go by the DSO with these cars. A few members here have documented, state agency cars with DSO codes from another state altogether.

New Orleans PD had DSO's of 23, so it could be from anywhere south central.

Thanks , FlyinTiger ...
So far all my info leads to Memphis Arkansas ???
Called there and emailed and got 0 info !!! kinda sad as i see no one else on this site with a possible AR car ....?
My kids and i figured that finding history info would be FUN but i guess NOT!
have you guys had good luck with a title search ??? what is the cost ?
would this search include a copy of the first title ?
thanks

Title searches can be helpful in some states. It depends on the length of time records are kept in that state. Definitely give it a try.
There are still states out there that SSP's have not turned up in private hands. It was only about a month or so ago that a Louisiana SSP showed itself on a SSP related site, and there were 34 originally. Much more than three. Some states are like finding a needle in a haystack. The search for more information may be difficult, but fun for those owners.

I haven't had to do a title search myself. Donny's advice to give it a try sounds pretty good to me, especially given the road block you've hit. It can't hurt, anyway. If you do it will be interesting to see what you learn.

I did a title search for my CHP car. It took about three weeks and, if I remember correctly, $7 or something. It showed me the owner whom I bought the car from and the one before him. With the other guys name, I tried to track him down, but no luck. Too much time had passed and his name was too common.

Toshi.. thanks
I called West Memphis Ar today to request my title search ....the woman at the DMV had no clue what i wanted !!!
In the end she asked for my vin# and mentioned that my car shows up in their system ...
I'm lucky i got that much out of her !! she mentioned the privacy act a few times ..
