I notice that a lot of you have the ten hole wheels powder coated black. Is that the way the originals came? Powder coated? Or paint?

Just paint, not powder.

We like the powder coating as it lasts much longer than paint, especially if you took a set non black wheels to begin with and changed them over to black. I personally like to look, even though they are not correct in many cases.

I agree. My wheels have been Powder Coated since 1998 and although they have a couple of flaws still look great when cleaned up.

The wheels on my 4-eye are painted 10-holes (to clear the larger front brakes). To keep the outsides looking nice, I've had the tire installers mount the wheel weights to the inside of the rim. Justa tip...

My son painted these 4 for $7.00 and they are semi gloss.. I'm happy with them plus it changed the look of the car 100%..

Oh, I definetly want to have them black, even though it isn't correct for my '93. I just like the look that much better. I just don't have the money to powder coat them. So, paint sounds like the option for me for the time being. Thanks for the input guys! :)

What size tires are you running on the back of the blue SSP?? They look decent and wider then the front ones..

That is the way I had them install the weights on my chrome ponys.

Historical info: SSP's built from 1987 to mid-year 90, black was the standard 10 hole wheel. This was completed by Superior Wheel a job shop for Ford. Only the face of the wheel was painted. Wheel weights were put on the face of the wheel as well and they are correct. Silver 10 holes were an extra cost option during the period stated above.

Wheel weights on the face... Nice to know.

I decided that my wheels needed some cleaning up. So I dropped them off at a local collision shop for them to sand blast them. I decided to have the shop also paint the wheels. The picture is of all the wheels in the bed of my truck going to the shop.

Are they going to powder coat or paint them?? I am curious will they be gloss blck or like a satin finish. I just had the rear main and trans done on mine and I am slowly working towards the outside of the car... Seats and headliner are next....

They are going to be painted, semi-gloss black. To powder coat them was going to be too much, $100/wheel.

Brought the freshly painted wheels home this morning. They look great! Four of these wheels weren't in the greatest shape, due to them running in countless Michigan winters I guess. The black paint seems to cover up the flaws.

They turned out great!!! I can't wait till I get mine done. I have been getting the mechanical stuff done first. Had the rear main done, trans serviced with a new valve body (what a difference) its like WOW! also had the exhaust re-done with stock type mufflers and a new Walker "H" pipe... Quiet and quick! But those rims look fantastic.. I have to get mine done. Thanks for the picture.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the new look of the wheels.

I've been following along with your progress. Looking good.

Mechanically, mine needed a new rear end, which I had rebuilt at the end of last summer. When the mechanic pulled it apart, the fluid was burnt and the gears had cracks forming. And, some how, my T-5 trans. lost two of the four bolts on the bell housing!

My exhaust needs to be addressed. Just the cat back. The tailpipes are these stupid looking 3" tips that had been welded on from the last owner.

Wow... Mine only needed a new valve body and the engine needed a rear main seal... It drives like new now. Of course I have to address about 75 other things and then get the body stripped and painted... I will get the rims done soon.I think the black car with the black rims look sharp... But hey isn't that part of the fun???

Finally got my tires! Mounted the wheels on the car as soon as I got home. It's been a long time since the car had sat on rubber. For the past four months its been on jack stands. The black wheels sure give it a new personality. Kind of mean looking. The only thing now is that the center caps don't look as nice as the wheels. They've got overspray from the last owner and two have a couple of dents, one courtsey of my 4 year old daughter who thought it sounded cool when banged on with a regular screw driver. Ahh! But that was when she was 2 years old.

The tires are brand new and still have that chaulky look. I've since cleaned them up. Then next step, I think, will be the interior. Carpet and upholstery specifically. Then paint.

Looking good! the black wheels definitely give the car a mean look, no matter what the year.
