This past week my brother and I flew to New Mexico and drove the 1987 CHP car home to VA. 2063 miles and the mustang made it!!! We went a little bit more to the South off of I40 through Texas and picked up I20 since the heater core was shot. We stopped at the Talladega Motor Speedway in Alabama to see the Alabama State Police SSP, but it was not there, they said the State Police borrow it from time to time. It leaked some oil and the battery tray broke, but nothing that packing tape could'nt fix until we saw a Wal-Mart and got some bungee cords.
Now I can start cleaning it up and put some zymol on that faded red paint.

Jack, congrats on your journey! I love the state line roadside pictures. It looks as though you've got a fun road ahead of you with the new SSP.

Congrats Jack on your 87 CHP purchase. Looking at the pictures made me think of the first SSP I got. I did some going the long route back and had a great time with it, but not half as far as you. Enjoying the trip getting it is half the fun of owning it. Looking forward to watching your progress.

I know it's a CHP but I can't help being a little partial to the red exterior with the black ten holes! :D

You gotta feel pretty good about that purchase. You covered a ton of distance, first time out nonetheless, and virtually trouble free.

Very cool. Hope to do the same thing one day from Florida to California.

Great pics. Roadtrips like that rule. I did that with my 93 Coupe (NC to TX) and it was a great experience. I'd like to do it again someday. Maybe NH to TX?

Nice pics.

I know it wasn't an SSP, but I did a road trip from MN to CA to MN in my '83 Mustang GL. 27 hours from Minnapolis to Las Vegas! Non Stop!
