As many of you know I have my FHP on ebay...which has probably a good thing as it put me in touch with a retired LT. of the FHP. He recently provided me with the unit numbers of the three of the four SSP's he was assigned to in the email below. If anyone has one of these cars or know where they might be please let me know.

Thanks

Well to your question. I drove many Mustangs during my years on the patrol, but I was assigned 4. My first one in 1988 was FHP-1598, in 1990 it was FHP-1188 and again in 1993 FHP-1188. After promoting to LT. I was issued a unmarked Crown Vic, and the Mustangs were long gone from FHP when that came around any ways. Remember, the FHP numbers were your rear and front tags. The plates and roof number didn’t all ways mach up with each other. You would take a 10-8 with your ID #, then tag number. Like, 132 Tampa, I’ll be 10-8 in FHP-1188.

I always enjoy hearing what the pilots have to say. No better facts IMO.

In my classified add I put in a couple emails he sent me. He has been able to provide a lot of information. I also learned today he was stationed in Miami, FL.

Interesting info....one of the pics we have in the resto doc is of plate #1188, but it shows Troop B.

Depends on who the pilot is. :)

I had one tell me that his car had a "chip" in it at an auction.

I asked him about where he was when he had 1188 and if the plate in the resto doc was his. This was his response.

Hey Matt,

I was stationed in Ocala in 1995 and than transferd to Tampa. When you transfer out of Troop, you have to leave your patrol unit behind. So I'm not sure about the plate. But, it was my old unit number. The plate was sometimes stuck on another car after the original on retired.

Joe

Also looks like I have a serious intrest in my '94 GT so with any luck the FHP will be staying with me.

Good deal.

Yeah, I am pretty excited about it. The guy is in Mississippi and wants to meet me at the YMR car show in Pigeon Forge in two weeks to buy it. I should know for sure Monday or Tuesday.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

I think if he had a partial VIN, it would help as some do not know their car's unit # or previoud tag number
