I saw this car on the road a couple of weeks ago but couldn't catch up to take a picture. I told Jarhed about it and I got this email today:

Well I thought all of you would get a kick out of this. Seems like the FHP unit that belonged to Stubes, then David, made its way back to Miami and protecting the rights of all the people who "Can't drive in Black and Tan" in the State of Florida. I have enclosed a bit of time line pictures for your enjoyment. All I ask for is a little feed back on my work. http://mail.yimg.com/a/i/mesg/tsmileys2/18.gif

Well....the positive is that all of the internet attorneys who keep whining about the FL law can partake of another cup. That, and the car isn't being flipped back and forth any longer.
I would think that there are still plenty of cheap 4 cylinder cars to be had...instead of spending that kind of $$$ on a "restored" SSP.
Almost forgot....1763 is a made-up unit number, IIRC. So is FHP55, but its funny to see that DHSMV signed off on that one.

At least it's only decals. When I saw it the decals were neon pink!

It's several pictures of a black/tan former FHP Mustang with a jetsonic (clear lenses) and "The Ticket Clinic" graphics all over it. It's been seen around S FL for the past few months.
Marcos called me yesterday and said that 321.03, the "imitation" law, had been revised effective 10/10. I looked it up this AM, and here is a paste from the FDLE update bulletin:
The law also amends F.S. 318.14, regarding noncriminal traffic infractions, by revising the requirements and procedures involving the signing of a uniform traffic citation. Revised F.S.318.18(3)(c) creates a minimum $50 fine for speeding in a designated school crossing zone.
Amends F.S. 321.03, concerning imitation of Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) vehicles, uniforms, and emblems, to permit FHP to specifically authorize use of color schemes, etc., that are
otherwise prohibited by this section of law.
Looks like FHP might start granting permission for our restos.

Will be interesting to hear from the FL residents as this one plays out and under what circumstances the FHP provides permission to collectors.

True....those changes aren't easily made and had to be done for a reason.
