As you all know, last Saturday I bought my '86 FHP SSP. Today Bernie FHP813 and I where taking the interrior out of the car and Bernie found the Build Sheet. It was located under the carpet behind the driver's seat. While it could not be salvaged it was very exciting to have found it.

Good deal. :)

Did you guys also look behind the rear trim panels? (just in case there is something else in there)

We have looked all over the car. The only part I am missing is on either side of the rear passenger seat. Bernie was surprised it had insulation, as his car did not have it. We also found where the roof antenna hole is and the hole for the light bar cable was.

We are very surprised the car is such a virgin for being 20 yrs old and handed down past 6 owners.

Sounds like you have a good one. It's pretty rare to find buildsheets, especially in the older cars.

You have a nice 85 CHP.
Thanks I appreciate it.
I have this, only do to our fearless leader here ImEvil1 (Mike) it is his former car. I bought it from him so he could purchase his 82 CHP. It all worked out very well.

I have a lot to do to it still but it will be coming along very well soon. I just need a few more items and some more $$$ in the car fund to get this car to paint.

I just got half of the set of new steels for this car so I can mount the Gatorbacks for shows.

You've got a great four-eyed SSP there! What a shame you Florida guys can't do full restorations on your state's own vehicles...now THAT'S a crime. :(

I think you are looking for a Unity spotlight and the one you are bidding on is wrong for the FHP.

You need one of these.

Good deal! Got towed?...we used to drive 'em that way to the body shop. Not strictly legal here but if you had a buddy following behind closely, you usually could get away with it as long as you weren't going halfway across the state. ;)

What kind of paint job are you getting?

Yeah, decided to have it towed to save me the time while I finished cleaning the garage and things around the house. Anyways that is why I have AAA, why not use them. The car will be getting the regular FHP Black and Tan. The shop told me 2 weeks but I am thinking a month. Expect the worst and hope for the best as I always said in the Marines. :Pirate09duel:

My office, at home, if full of the entire interior and the wheels. Once back I will be like a busy ant, all over the car. I am sure Bernie will help, he likes the rush. I would also like to thank him. He helped me with a new trunk and other parts that were needed. Thanks Bernie :thanks:

Marcos, the fun begins! You'll be at that body shop three times a day.:rollhappy: I hope they do a good job for you. Keep Bernie on his toes, make him work just don't give him the beer until the job is done.:D Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Marcos: No problem Bro! Glad it's going to paint.

Gregg: Ive seen this Guy's work up close, he does outstanding work.
He's painting my black car as soon as I get all my equipment together.
This is some of his work, and believe me the picture doesn't do it justice.

Looking good! The transformation back to the Florida colors should be quite dramatic. A 4-eye car really fits that combination, looking forward to seeing the results.

If all goes as stated it looks like the car will be ready for the paint department by Sat. at noon. The radiator core support has been straightened and fixed as good as possible and the engine compartment will be painted soon. I hope it does not take much longer, I am ready to get my hands on it. Here are the latest pictures.

Here is the latest, the radiator and all of its mounting components were being painted today when I got to the shop. The engine compartment was been painted and I was told the car would have the door jams and trunk area painted by tomorrow. Unfortunately the painting booth had been out of order (Don’t know why) so about a week, two weeks ago and work has backed up for them so it will take some time for my car to get the painting it needs.

The way the law reads, it is a Misdemeanor not committed in their presence so it can't be arrestable as it is not a Misdemeanor exception and I would not be impersonating a police officer plus he is one of the persons helping with my equipment and other details.:D

Exactly....I am so tired of seeing the myth spread around about not being able to paint an FHP Mustang back to the original colors (especially from non-LEOs giving their "interpretations" of FSS, or those who have heard stories from their friends, etc). One of these days, I'll get my hands on the applicable case law and post it in the FHP resto doc.

I'm sure your car will look great, Marcos. Very, very few restored FHP 4-eyeds around.
