Retired to City of West Jordan Public Works. March 27, 2010, TNT Auctioned to a guy in Arizona (91K miles). Then sold to his friend (not sure when, but it was the guy I bought it from).

I was throwing codes 91&41, and 34. Motor is bone stock. I just updated 02 sensors, plugs, wires, distributor, coil, fan, EGR, EVR, EVP, TAD&TAB, air filter, coolant temp sensor, air sensor, vacuum check valve, and a couple vacuum lines. No more codes!!!

Not many interior mods. No more feet slipping of the damn pedals. I hate the look of the Hurst shifter, but it feels great.
There was already a hole under the dash (by the trunk button) so I filled it with a switch to control on/off power to the passenger spotlight.

Very nice to see that car turn up. I was hoping to buy that one, but had to wait until I sold another toy off.

What all suspension mods did you do?

When I began my 750 mile trip home, I wasn't thrilled. Everything was worn out, BAD!! I liked the "original" aspect of the car, but not 750 miles worth. I can't describe how unstable the steering was, and hitting the brakes felt like it sent the car up on the front left tire.
I pulled off Motorcraft shocks (made in Japan), I didn't even know these existed.

I've since installed:
Bilstein's all around
H&R Sport springs all around
poly swaybar, and steering rack bushings
poly iso's in rear
MM stock replacement front control arms (w/ bushings and ball joints)
MM caster camber plates
MM full length subframe connectors
MM stock rear uca's
MM adjustable lca's
MM panhard bar

I'm currently putting together a monster brake kit.
Also, looking around for a SN95 rack (w/ MM steering shaft), and new PS pump.

After I finished the driver side fronts, I thought the passenger side would be a breeze......
front bolt had rust/welded to the metal bushing sleeve. Vise grips, a can of WD40, propane torch, 1.5 days, and a shit ton of patience, I got it out.

As expected, the rear lower axle bolts did the same. Since I had room, I ground off the head, then used a bolt and a series of washers to slowly pull it through. After all that, I crawled under to snap some photos, and realized I'd put the lowers of the wrong sides!!! In practice, laughing aloud, and muttering to myself, it only took about 20 minutes to switch them.

Well, I bought this car to drive, and have decided the braking is terrible. Monster brakes, means bigger wheels. I'm semi torn on my decision. I wouldn't say I'm "hacking" the car up, just bolting on some more modern stuff. I really wanted to keep things original, but I also want to drive it a lot. Power isn't the problem, with the stock motor it's plenty fast around town. Every other car on the road can out-stop me though!!!

How could you let your garage get so cluttered? :D


I've got rear disk brakes on my SSP; allegedly it's a '93 Cobra 4-lug rear. I do like how my car stops/handles. A previous owner had tossed the stock parts long ago. In your case, hang onto the stock pieces if you can. Somebody will be the owner/custodians of these cars after we're long gone, so retaining the stock pieces may be of benefit later on.

Braking has always been barely adequate with rear drums on these cars, but if it was good enough back then for duty use, it should be still ok.

93K is low mileage, too. (or was)

Haha, what's seen of the garage, is only the tip of the iceberg! Actually, the boxes stacked (rather oddly) on the right, contain stock parts from both Mustang, and an 03 Lightning. Obviously I don't throw much away. If the garage was twice as big, everything would be organized........yeah right.

When I was spinning the rotors, checking for caliper bracket clearance, I heard a slight "ball bearing" noise. I took it for a 2 mile brake and rotor bedding run, and could hear the noise in the car. It was audible over the exhaust. I was so mad, I just parked it, and didn't even look at it for 2 days. I knew what was wrong and ordered new hubs, bolts, and dust caps. I bought the SN95 spindles/hubs used, and could not hear anything until I spun it with the rotor on.
Took it apart a couple days ago, and this is probably the culprit.

New hubs arrive tomorrow, minor adjustment on the booster push rod, re-bleed the system, adjust rear bias, and the forecast is rain all weekend........hahahahahaha

Oh yeah! I still need a REAL alignment, and the above mentioned adjustments, but I now brake with my toes instead of my foot.

I always thought something felt kinda loose under full throttle. With new rear control arms, panhard bar, and tranny mount, there was one last thing to check. When I got the stock mount out, I easily pulled it apart with my bare hands! These Energy Suspension ones should yield a much better feel.
