Up for auction is a very nice ex-highway patrol Ford Mustang. This is the LX model Mustang with the police interceptor package, 5.0 Liter High Output V8 and a 5 speed manual transmission. This car used to belong to the Utah State Police. This is a very nice car, very solid and straight, and very fast. The only area of concern on this car is the driver's rear quarter panel. There is a small area of rust forming along the bottom lip. The rest of the car including the bottoms of the doors and the rocker panels is very solid. This car still has the blue strobe lights mounted front and rear, the flip down map light at the front of the headliner, and the shotgun bag in the back seat. This car runs and drives extremely well and is very fast and sure-footed, even on the windy mountain roads here in North Carolina. There is a tear in the upholstery on the drivers seat (see photo) but other than that the interior is in great shape. These police interceptor Mustangs are popular cars, probably because there is no real need for expensive upgrades to have a very fast Fox body. Once again, this car runs and drives very well and is reliable to drive anywhere. Any questions please contact Dave at 706-302-3636.

Glad he didn't forget to take a close up picture of the Police Interceptor badge. ;)

I've been looking but I think this unit had some sort of damage to it other than the seat rip. I'll have to look but I think this is a relisting of this car from this dealer - possibly a month or so ago. I might be wrong but there was some chatter about this car had underlying rust damage or something to that effect.

You may be thinking about a white SSP originally from Oregon.

Greg - I thought the same thing as you did. Did someone have maybe even a handshake to buy it or an unpaid ePay auction win and after seeing in person did not pay for it maybe? If same one I think user stangnut on .org went to see it in person too and decided against buying if I have the right former Utah SSP.

230011 is the last of 33 consecutively numbered '87s. Anyone get a pic of the door tag?

Yes there was a to do about it at .org, that's where I saw this:

Something about the doors not being Kosher.

It never came up in the .org thread but there is a possibility that the body undersides of that car might have the Ford factory "road abrasion package" (or something like that term) finish on them. The RCMP car that is near me has that option and it looks alot like what is shown on those doors. Just a thought.

If we could see the main buck tag, we'd know if it was ordered with the "lower bodyside protection" option (aka "road abrasion", code "RA"). I've only ever seen the DSO buck tag and the door tag.

I believe this is the one that someone bought and backed out of due to a "mop and glow" paint job that was hiding all the rust. Apparently the car looked alot better in pics than in real life
