Does anyone have the brand and part number of the stainless vent visors that FHP used?

IIRC, they are Vent Shades brand. I have an NOS set in the garage (at the house), and I'll post up the info when I get home (if I ever make it there). :)

Someone else will probably beat me to it (and I should put this info in the FHP Resto Doc, so thanks for the reminder).

By a mile (like before I could even finish the first post)!

It's OK...I'm on a sloooooow connection in the wilds of North H-town.

Now...I just hope that info that you posted is the right stuff.:p

Here is a set. The other set I have is in an original box, and not the shrink-wrap like these. Bernie has the right part number....but these are the Ventshade brand. :waving:

Ventshade, that's what I meant :) Now the company is AVS (Auto vent shade) but they only make acrylic shades.

Yeah...those plastic ones are kinda flimsy. I'll add this info to the Resto doc.

I bought two sets. Thanks

I have a feeling that company is going to see a surge of orders for those.

I still haven't received a refund from the company...these are very out-of-stock, and Jim Y. was right (for once). :)

I mentioned adding this to the Resto doc earlier in the thread, but I forgot to do so when I added a few pics the other day. I'm glad that I forgot. Jim and I were talking about a picture of a Vector-equipped Mustang tonight, and he pointed out that the car didn't have the Ventshades. I started looking at in-service pics (both on this site, other sites, and here at the house) and was amazed at the number of cars that do not have them. Really. There are several in the Resto doc; three different Mustangs and one Crown Vic on the first page of the doc without them. I'll make sure to add that info along with the pics.

I have always thought that FHP used them on just about every car, but it doesn't appear that they did (majority yes....every car, no). Learn something new every day. :takenotes:

Got an e-mail from autobarn. "Your package was unable to ship because the item is no longer available from the manufacturer."

It would have been nice to get a set, but I'll live.

I also paid with Paypal...I gave them until this evening, after leaving my last voice-mail message earlier today. No returned emails, no returned phone calls....dispute filed. Sad.

Got a refund pretty fast from them. You guys must have got their attention with the dispute settlement etc. Oh well, maybe some will pop up sooner or latter.
I joined fotki today and put some pictures of my 89 FHP car on it. It is coming together. The radar is funtional and the other equipment needs to be wired up yet.

Bud,

They waited a few days more (after the dispute), but finally refunded my money.

Outstanding pics, and I really like your equipment placement. It doesn't get much better than that! Nice job. :2thumbs:

When I had my car painted way back I took them off before I sent to the shop. When I got it back I was in debate... do I put them back on or do I toss them in the trash? I figured what the hell, I'll put them back on and see if I like them. Thank God!

That's what happened to most of them, spotlights too. Some in-service cars are seen without the visors, so I'm not worried to much about them.

I think I did toss my spotlight after about 8 years on the car because it froze up and wouldn't turn anymore. I knew they sold them in Galls so I figured I could buy a new one if I wanted to. The bracket for it is still on the car though.
