IN SERVICE PHOTOS OF MY CAR- CHP #5305-HAVE SURFACED!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With a lot of research It sounds like 2 photos of my car while it was in service have surfaced in the Santa Cruz Area office of the CHP. I received a call today saying they have put them on digital format and will email them. The CHP Officer in contact with me personally knows the Officer who was assigned the car. He is the one who is providing the photos. Both the officer providing them and the car's assigned driver states even though the tag is not visable in the photos they are 110% sure the photos are of CHP #5305. As soon as they arrive in my inbox I will post them up here.

Awesome! To bad that there aren't anymore pictures of the entire car. What's the box in the passenger seat?

Sorry Mike..didnt mean to ignore you. Im still working on the cards and did not forget. I called a few times and got his voice mail. I have not called recently and will get back on it. I would like to have my original card as well, so I am motivated to get it done. I would love to just get all the damn Mustang cards so I dont have to bother the guy later on again. hmmmm maybe I should look into airfare to Sacramento....???;)

Can you use thoose photos for anything on the site? The one with him standing beside the car is cool. Is it me or does that guy really look like Lance Armstrong in a CHP Uniform...

Good deal...please keep us posted on the cards. :)

I could definitely use that second shot in the CHP Resto Doc...great view of the original door decals. (if you don't mind)

Thanks, Chris. I try to use in-service (verified) pics in those for us to use as references as much as possible. :thanks:

I have about 3 or 4 pics of my car when it was in-service. The trooper that had my car wasn't a real exciting person, meaning I flt lucky that he sent me what he did. He only sent me pictures of the car at accident scenes, which I suppose is OK but they are difficult to see in some of the shots.

I'll have to get them scanned and posted.
Of course, my Mustang will look somewhat different since I added spotlights to it and placed a different lightbar on it.
Mine looks more like a 1990 model more than a '93. But '90 was my favorite year model for Texas, anyway.

The only in-service photos I have of my car are really "out of service" ones from when the car was waiting to be sold.

Better than nothing but nothing beats the excitement or documentation of having the real deal in-service shots. There must be some of my car existing somewhere, esp. since it was used for so many years at the Academy. Gotta work on rooting them out!

What is that mark or decal behind the drivers door? Did your car also have a "Safety and Service" decal on it?

What is that mark or decal behind the drivers door? Did your car also have a "Safety and Service" decal on it?Yes, it did have that decal and it can also be seen on the "sister" '88 that was used at the Academy at the same time as mine was:

I don't know what the story is with that decal, these are the only two Mustangs I know of that had it applied in that location. It was definitely an early use of it and maybe they were experimenting with the placement. I have plenty of documentation to justify putting it back on there but quite frankly I think it looks hideous in that location so I opted to leave it off my car.

Those are great shots, Mike. I'll add Chris' and yours to the Resto Doc.

Do you happen to have unit numbers for those cars? Also...were these photos published somewhere?

The '82 is the same car in both photos, ID# is unknown. None of these photos have been published anywhere that I know of, all have been contributed by individuals.

I didn't think that the shots were of the same '82..must have been the moustache that threw me off. :)

Why would I be asking for the unit number of the '88s?? :nahnah:

If you guys know who took the pics, let me know and I'll list them in the Resto doc. Thanks again.

Credit Tom Vigil with the photo of #2948 and Bill Miller with #3035. I've got incomplete info. on the '82 photos but if I can drag it up I'll pass it on.
