Hello everyone.

On a trip to Disney World a few years ago, my family and I got a chance to see a Cabernet Red Mustang "Police Car". Long story short, I was in the market for a Fox Notch, it seemed to be a perfect fit for us so when it came up for sale, we bought it. A couple of great guys from this forum drove it from FL to TX (Thanks to them).

The car sat in my garage, relatively unused except for weekly drives around the neighborhood and various Parades in our town.

The leaking lower intake manifold gasket got the better of me a few months ago and I decided to tear in and replace it. Much bigger job than I expected (20+ year old car). Its done with all MC parts and the car runs great with no leaks.

Fortunately, the hours of replacing parts and cleaning the motor has renewed my interest in this car (as has the bucktags behind the drivers headlight) I am hungry for information as to how this car was used, original eqpt etc...

The car is a 1990 Cabernet Red SSP DSO 72-0133.

Glad to be a member of the forum.

Welcome to the board.

Pretty sure that car was a Santa Clara County DA's unit. Post up some pics when you can and we can help you with further info.

Mike,
Thanks. Glad to be here.

Lets see if this works. There are some earlier pics of my car on the web. If this works, I'll post more.

welcome Nim, very nice car. Formally a Santa Clara car that was used to create a Mass "tribute" car.

I had a couple of SCCA cars in the past and can help you with the correct equipment if you go back to the car's original configuration.

Thanks, Nim. Just wanted to verify the car with your pics before I posted further. I had dinner with you in Houston when you picked it up.

The "tribute" part of your car wasn't done by Frank, but from the owner prior to him. All of what was done is easily fixed, but the company who made the correct front warning light is now out of business. You might be able to find one on one of the e-light forums, though.

Again, welcome and glad to see you on here.

Jim,
Yeah, "tribute car". I agree.

I definitely am interested in what was originally in the car. I have a glove box insert that has a cut out in it and I assumed this was for an original siren controller. Collecting those parts would be a good first step before they are gone forever.

That being said, I am torn with pulling all the added equiptment out as my kids think the strobes and siren are the coolest thing in the world.

Maybe a hybrid, maybe I go all the way back to original. Honestly, I hadn't put much thought into it. Either way I would love to know what I need.

Mike,
thanks

Mike,
That's right. My buddy and I had a great time with you and Bret. I actually almost wrecked the car that night. We took some back roads out of town and it was pretty foggy out and a truck blew thru a stop sign. I locked them up and came within inches of hitting him. Would have been a huge loss.

Frank is adamtly clear he didnt put the equiptment in the car.

I've been focused on the mechanical portions, still have some harsh shifts to deal with and what seems to be a tie rod or ball joint. Once that is done, I'm gonna move to some body cleanup. After that, the equipment.

What is the e-lights forum?

Glad that didn't happen!

www.elightbars.org (http://www.elightbars.org) is one I've been a member of for years. EES Coplite was the name of the company; "hotshoe" light was what it was called.

You might also try a post on the radioreference forum. http://forums.radioreference.com/

Coplite's site is long gone, but here is an archived page for them. Main page:
