This unmarked car was assigned to a Supervisor in Troop E who is still with the FHP today as a Major and Commander of FHP Troop L. It was plated FHP-198. In the past year the car was restored back to its original in service look. It has an automatic transmission as most unmarked supervisor units were so equipped. There is plenty of documentation including a copy of the original title, bill of sale from the public auction and auction documents. Both buck tags are included and are detached from the car. These unmarked supervisor units are rare, and this one is in Reef Blue with a Opal gray cloth interior, also a rare color. This was the last year of the SSP Mustang. The hit wasn't that bad.

I can say the car was fixed and repainted right.
The car was a complete mess from one of the previous owners using paint stripper on it and that crap was everywhere.

I stripped the car down to a running shell all glass out and all jams including front and rear windows were painted along with behind the doors,fenders under hood and trunk.
All glass was changed because it looked like the old stuff was etched.
The only thing i didn't care for my painter doing was spraying the bottom of the hood gloss reef blue instead if the duller finish it should be.

The underside of the car was rust free and excellent condition.

I do not have every part needed. What I know that I would still need to repair the car would be: headlight, corner light, splash shield, washer reservoir, better bumper cover, 5.0 emblem, plastic body molding, and push pins for the rectangular plastic splash shield that attached to the frame rail ( I took it off unnecessarily ). I have about $200 in the parts that I purchased, and the NOS apron is half of that. Fox parts are cheap if you shop smart. I was quoted $900 by the best body shop in Houston to repair the damage without painting, with me supplying all parts.

Glad this one was saved. It was a pretty good hit but having the pictures to show the damage and how it was repaired documents it was done right. It's always good to know the history if you are a perspective buyer and I would not be suprised if an insurance company wanted to total a fox body with this damage. State Farm would give no consideration to it being an SSP, to them it's just an old mustang.

Me too! I was happy to see it end up in Stubes' hands after the accident with the previous owner. I had halfway considered buying it myself, because at the time we were looking for a project car for our son, Jack. I didn't think a SSP would be a good daily ride for a young driver, so we found something else.

I get the impression that Russ/Stubes is somewhat PO'd here (unless I am mis-reading things), but I didn't see anything insinuating that Russ did a shoddy job bringing this SSP back to life. If anything, I think ImEvil1 simply laid out the facts to correct GSPI's statement to give Russ proper credit for the save, not the seller.

Yeah, I need a lot of guidance so I appreciated Mike's input. Stubes, I didn't realize you did the work, I just knew who the previous owner was and thought it was restored there in NH.

I own a collision repair shop and have been in the business since 1981. I would consider this damage to be minor. The strut tower and lower frame rail appear to be fine. The folded up fender apron is just a piece of tin. Great colors !
