As part of our VIN Project at www.specialservicemustang.net (http://www.specialservicemustang.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3239), we have collected pictures and Marti Reports on over 200 SSPs to-date. Recently, we found an interesting tidbit of information - at least for those of us who like SSPs. :)
We had seen before where a batch of CUN (consecutive unit number) cars contained SSPs from different agencies. What makes this more interesting is that we now know of one instance where at least one civilian V8 notchback was part of the same CUN batch that also contains SSPs.
There is a 162 batch of CUN cars in 1985 which contain 154 SSP's ordered for CHP, and some number of Oregon SSPs at the end of the CUN grouping. This VIN range goes from 234784 - thru - 234945. It was assumed that the first car in that batch was an SSP built for the CHP under DSO #72-0406. However, we ran a Marti Report for that first car in the batch, and it came back as a civilian V8 notchback. Here are some links to certain cars within that CUN batch:
1FABP26M3FF234784 (http://www.specialservicemustang.net/images/85-234784marti1nonSSP.jpg) - civilian coupe
1FABP26M3FF234932 (http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/CHP/1985CHP234932/info234932.htm) - California Hwy Patrol SSP
1FABP26M4FF234938 (http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/CHP/1985CHP234938/info234938.htm) - California Hwy Patrol SSP
1FABP26M6FF234942 (http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/OR/1985OSP234942/info234942.htm) - Oregon SSP
So we now have documentation of a batch of CUN cars containing SSP's from different agencies as well as a civilian coupe(s). It's not earth-shattering news, but it is kinda cool.
