Can't remember - but I think I paid $80 for mine - and with little contents in it.

High, perhaps. But not like they are up every other week on EBay.:)

Mine was $25.00 and loaded with all of the correct items.
I obtained another, smaller one, FREEEEEEEEEE It may have been for a motorcycle, not sure.

I'll keep my eyes open for more of them. They are around.
I saw one at CHP Motor transport Thursday.
I almost grabbed it, but slapped my hand before doing so. LOL

We found that the 1992 saved for the Musuem has lost it's indoor storage!

Hope this isn't a long term situation or it may end up like that sad-sack Diplomat. :No no:

Flock of EVOC Chargers. The wrap jobs are looking pretty beat when viewed close up and I heard they will all be going to B&W paint and traditional markings soon:

Funtime at the skid pan, too bad they wouldn't let us take anything out for a spin. :)

Would look good next to the last Caprice;)

Equally surprised that the Mustang has lost it's storage.

I heard rumor that the CHP had allowed one or two of the older cars to be released to a private party for restoration. Some guy was talking about how he was restoring one of the older 70s units for them (private funding) and they allowed him to take it off property. Any truth to that?

Maybe we all offer to take one home for safe keeping? :) That dippy could be a cool car with a little love.

And the 92 Camaro still inside?

Were you able to read the license plate or learn the Unit Number for this car?

Nice pics....couldn't help but notice the Cramaro being stored inside while they have the Mustang parked outside, though. :No no:Such an injustice, especially considering their Camaro is a C-L-O-N-E. Dunno, maybe they are figuring that the rarity of it, even as a copy, trumps that of an SSP and if their '92 is sacrificed to the elements they will still be able to eventually find a replacement.

But I think they need to find some way to put it under cover.

Yes, a '73 Dodge Coronet was released to a private party for restoration. I've talked to that individual and he's a retired CHP officer who has worked on some prior car restorations of his own. The car is a very rare test and evaluation unit and at one time was sitting next to the Diplomat before he pulled it out of there.

Not sure how old the photos above are but you can see the Dippy has deteriorated even further. :No no:

Maybe we all offer to take one home for safe keeping? :) That dippy could be a cool car with a little love.I made that suggestion to the Sargent in charge of the vintage fleet. She mentioned that she is currently recruiting civilian volunteers to help restore, maintain and show the cars while permanent museum space is found. Heck, I'd do it in a heartbeat if I lived a little closer to them!

As raising funds for a separate musuem building has fallen very short of goals, they are instead planning to greatly increase the current museum space in the Academy building but they will still have to rotate cars into that facility.

Were you able to read the license plate or learn the Unit Number for this car?Yes, it's E881517. As of a few years ago, I heard that this unit was known to still be in CA and owned by a young man who knows exactly what he has and that he absolutely would not sell it. He's never surfaced online or anywhere else I've been but I'm hopeful the car will eventually see the light of day and maybe even be restored.

That's too bad...the NCSHP keeps most of the historic vehicles they have outside - under car ports. That was tough to see too!

How we got the Coronet? My dad never knew about it and then one of the times he went down to motor transport he bought the wrecked 92 Mustang and he found out about the 74 Coronet when he asked about the white one. They were selling the 74 in a salvage sale. So my dad bought the Mustang and the Coronet. Pretty much the same condition as the white one.
It went to Long Beach PD car when it was new, but had slight roof damage(some one walked on it?) and the LBPD rejected the car. Dodge sold it to the CHP. This 74 (my dads) was the only Coronet the CHP had that year. The car still looks just like the 73, only blue.

Someone did a nice job on putting current decals on the Diplomat...

Went out and snapped a couple pics of the Coronet today :D

It is in sad shape, but it isn't much worse than it was when my dad got it. You can see it was originally black and white, and it has 12k original miles.
Excuse the dirty-ness lol
