Hey all while out on the job today I came across what I think is an 84 SVO. I'm not 100% about the year. I looked up SVO's of different years and found the 84 has the headlights set back as this one did. It is an SVO though. It has the rims, the double spoiler on the back hatch, the little scoop on the hood. It is maroon-ish in color. It just so happened the owners girlfriend was out in front of the house while I was there. She said it was for sale and that it has to go by the end of the month. I didn't get specifics on price yet because I couldn't hang out and wait for the boyfriend to show up(I was working). I told her I'd have to come back. I just wanted to know if anyone would be interested. Let me know if you are interested and I'll go back and get info. If know one is then I'll just let it go. Unfortunately I don't have the room for it.

Those are neat cars. Have you posted about it on FEP?

1984 and "early" 1985 SVOs originally had recessed headlamps.
"late" 1985 (called '85½) and 1986 SVOs originally had flush headlamps.

It is easy enough to change from one to the other, so don't go by that alone to figure the model year. Quickest and easiest way to figure that out is the model year designator (10th character) in the VIN.

E = 1984
F = 1985
G = 1986

An '84 SVO VIN would end with EF and six numbers.
An '85 SVO VIN would end with FF and six numbers.
An '86 SVO VIN would end with GF and six numbers.

An '85½ SVO VIN would end with a number of 230115 or higher.

I've always wanted an SVO. I like em just as much as SSP's. They are truely underrated. Good find!

No it hasn't been posted on that website. I don't have a 4 eyed car so I'm not on that site. If you could pass it along that would be great. If not I understand.

I posted a thread in their FYI Car Section. I will let you know if anyone there needs more information from you.

The maroonish color you described sounds like medium canyon red. I had an '84 SVO in that color with T-tops! Even the SVOOA said my car didn't exist. But it sure did! Here's a link to my brother and I's SVOs over the years.

Thank you for your efforts. I guess it comes down to I'd hate to see this car go to Pick your Part or end up being a side show doughnut queen out here on the Oakland streets. I have my hands tied because I don't have any room for another car. If someone was coming to pick it up I could probably get away with keeping it here for a week or so.

I think what they (SVOCA) meant as to its existence is the T-roof option being "factory". That roof option was not available on the SVO. One had to buy an SVO and then have the roof installed after.

So more info on this SVO. It is an 84. One owner car. Bought right here in Northern CA. 180,000 miles. The owner drove the car from his previous house about 30 minutes away about one year ago and parked it where it sits now. The owner said he tried to start it recently with no luck he thinks the starter or the solenoid my be bad. Never been in an accident. It is covered in dust and pollen. If anyone is interested let me know and I will PM you the guys info. I'd buy it if I had the room for it. He's asking $4000 but said he also said he is open to offers.

I've seen pictures of $600 SVO's that are almost better than that. I don't think it is worth that whole $4k unless it runs like a champ and has a half decent interior.
Doesn't run, Needs whole exterior redone, probably needs interior work, motor should be gone through(heads are prone to problems), turbo probably needs to be looked over by a specialist, ect... I'd say around $2k or less.

Uh...ok. I just thought I'd try and pass this along to someone that may want it. I'm not trying to say it's worth every penny of $4000. The guy just has that as a starting point. He said beside the starter not turning over it ran and drove fine when he brought it from his last residence. oh...That is one thing I didn't mention is the interior. I was expecting an interior like the one in my 89 but this one is surprisingly really nice. The back seat looks immaculate. I am jealous of his interior for sure. It blows my 89's out of the water for sure.

Yeah I know you're just passing it on, but people have to think about what the car will need and the price before you go for the asking price. For 2K more, you could have this - http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/3080690736.html .
The red one does look like a nice car, but I would still repaint it and go through the engine. Just my opinion.

That's a nice looking SVO. I hear what everyone is saying. I honestly don't know values of SVO's and I'm just repeating what he told me about the car. When I speak with him again I'll break the news to him about the value. I'm kind of not surprised about this because he did tell me he had it on Epay at one time and of course it didn't sell.
