If you could post the vin that would be great. You could look at the 1990 page in the VIN Project on the main site to see if you VIN is on the list. If you find it, see if any of the others in the same group are blue. Click and see if it's a WSP car as well.
Do you have the door tag? Is it readable? The DSO around the lower right corner(6 digit # I believe) can also help in determining previous service history.
For absolute verification, check to see if the buck tags are on the radiator support. They should be on the drivers side, down behind the headlight, right above the bumper shock. If there are two, one will have codes for the build of the car from the factory, and the other will have the agency it was intended for.
Hope this helps :)

Hey Fred - welcome to the site. Still have that 90 that your son was working on?
If I recall, we verified it was indeed one of the 1990 WSP cars. I know 2 other WSP owners locally - and can compare VINs if you like.
I think you still had the blue interior but were swapping out to black at one point, no?
As for verifying the car - check out the info Sam just posted. The buck tag and DSO tag on the door will help to verify the car's identity.
Sam... Incredible help as soon as I get home I will get the Intel....
Ryan... That is my car again for the third time... lol.. I bought him a 91 super beefed up couple 5.0... He loves it... Yeah that is the same 90... And I am putting everything back... Are you currently buying SSP's?
Ryan do ya still got that sheriffs SSP?

Sure do. Sitting in my garage. Looks the same as when you sold it to me. I have gathered up most of the gear it had installed back in the day, but have not had time or $$ to start any of the body work/paint.
You selling the 90? LOL
If I remember - I mentioned you ought to keep that Crystal Blue interior - maybe sounds like you did? Harder than dirt to find those pieces.
Post up some pics if you can - or - I will PM you and you can mail them to me and I'll post them up for you.
Small world, huh? :)

I will see if I can put you in touch with the 2 guys that also own 1990 WSPs. One is an unmarked unit - and the other marked.
Post pics when you can.

I did not see that vin in the 1987 list of vins in the vin project.
Did you check to see if it has two buck tags? Door tag readable?

The buck tags should be in the same spot as I stated in my first post

Pics of Fred's new 87 with the AOD - DSO shows it being an SSP out of the Seattle regional office. Same toggle switch setup for the wig wags as PCSD and WSP. Likely a county sheriff car:

It's not on the list of known VINs that have been compiled - doesn't mean it's not an SSP - VIN #s are added all the time as we find them.
As for the pics - posted them up onto a public accessible photo site and linked to the forum. Fred...mail me any more pics you want up - will help you get them loaded.
Will be good to learn more about this car - and your 1990. Looking forward to more info as you get it. ;)
Thanks Ryan you and your friends are a tremendous help... And yes i got the dease!! Lol

You're welcome. Heck...I have 5 now...so you got 3 more to go in order to catch up!! :)
Wow.. 5 let's see who gets to the magnificent 7... Lol.. just joking... Hell I got lucky with my 1st one.. I plan to keep both... I still remember as if it were yesterday when I got pulled over in my dads Camaro (I was a car salesman. One time for the chevrolet dealership and I sold my dad a brand new one at the time) well I got pulled over by Stater and the WSP of course gave me a ticket as he left he said "nice Camaro" I was looking at the ticket and thinking I was going to get killed by my dad for speeding.. the WSP pulled out and took off that's when I saw in slow motion this Coupe (like a great white shark moving through the water) in full view I saw what I was looking for in a musclecar...... a 5.0 coupe Mustang and to boot a cop car.... That turned out to be harder than I thought...Well my 90 I found in the hood in a gangster iinfested area and this 87 I just traded straight across for a 4x4 pickup... I liked that deal..sorry for the long winded story.. that is how I became a diehard fordman and a SSPer too. Thanks for reading.

A funny side note for everyone. When I bought the PCSD car from Fred...we started talking about the trooper that pulled Fred over - which ended up being Marlin Workman - who still lives in Yakima. And oddly enough - through my purchases over the years, I have Marlin's old 87 WSP Mustang. Which...when we talked - we think that was about the time Fred got his ticket as mentioned above. So...long story short - I have the car that pulled Fred over all the years ago that fueled his passion for SSPs. Circle of life = complete. LOL.

Ryan/Fred, that is just too cool!! Good luck with the car. I love the gray ones.
Greg
That story is a story that I have shared with my boys and now read Ryans portion to complete my story just now to them... It was cool... It most definatly fueled my passion for the SSP's .. coming from a family that drank chevrolet... I have never looked back... I would like to keep the 87 stock and paint the 90 black and in white block lettering sticker "INTERCEPTOR" on rear deck... Would love to make it my mad max pursuit rig.. thanks Ryan for helping me relive my life changing memory.
Footnote.. Ryan let me know if your interested in selling your 87..

FYI - for all - Fred just sent the Marti report on the 87 he just picked up. Here it is for everyone to see/decode:
http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i370/djslickmix/Misc/Marti-Report_1FABP40E8HF168930.jpg
Looks like it was a fleet car ordered through McCollum Ford in Spokane - which is where all fleet bids/cars went that year and in 88. Unfortunately, doesn't say where the car was headed to - just that it was an AOD with the same optioned ordered by WSP and other agencies that year.
Fred - my guess - is that you likely have some writing on the firewall under the hood on the passenger side in silver or red paint pen with "LG" in the middle under the invoice # and above the in-service date for the car's warranty. See if it's there. If it is...that means that Leonard Griffin (LG) did your PDI prior to it being sent to the agency. :)

As for Marlin's 87...it's heading in for paint here in 2 weeks. After that is unknown. I may keep it for a bit. May sell it. Not sure. There's about 3-4 guys lined up ahead of you on the dibs list. LOL. :) Will keep you posted.
Thanks Ryan for your superlative help!!! I think I have plenty.. of rigs ford the moment although I remember marlin taking his supertrooper to the car shows... Beautiful as it was and i am sure it will look even better after it gets some new duds... I will Tru and figure out this smartphone and post myself soon... Thanks again.
