Realized that I never started an official thread for the car, so here it is. I found her on CL listed as an ex DPS car, buck tags, single key locks, relocated trunk release are all in place. She's an '87 SSP that has had an '86 "facelift". Other than that, and the obvious repaint, she wears her 218k miles very well. The Sand Beige interior is still in very good shape, with only the holes drilled by the DPS to mount equipment being the bad spots.

Here she is the day I brought her home -

Got my Marti report back on her -

I also ordered a new door tag from them while I was at it, since the old one had been removed during the last repaint.

Love this car! We just got the 87 TX DPS out and are going to finish the build. If we can arrange the get together that we were were talking about on foureyedpride (85RegattaBlue) the car will be there. It would be cool to have both of these cars in the same place at ther same time.

I'm always up for a good meet and greet!

Got a little more info about the car from the PO's mechanic/ex-friend. Seems he was promised "X" amount of money if the car sold for a certain price, but was never paid. Not my issue, but he was very forthcoming with details about the car.

Original engine was taken out, set aside and "fresh" '91 roller motor went in. Added a small cam, 175 shot of nitrous, 3.73's and subframe connectors, and then went racing, running a best of 7.0x in the 1/8th.

Car was wrecked in the front (slow speed broadside with a lady in a Chevy sedan), necessitating the new front end and repaint.

Almost got an LSx conversion, but decided to sell the car instead. Right after this decision, the stock T5 went boom, replaced with a 4 cylinder T5 that is still in the car (1st gear is nearly useless with the 3.73's).

Original engine was set on stand, all new gaskets added, along with a new water pump and a fresh set of E7 heads, then put back in the car, and that is how she sits as of today.

According the the mechanic, it was originally bought by a guy in West Texas, then sold to the mechanic, then sold to the PO, then to me, so that makes me owner #4.

Always good to get some history about the car, I guess! LOL!

TomNo cruise on this one, just the wheel. The original was is really bad shape so the PO put this one on. I'm looking for a decent non cruise wheel.

Bryan, that's cool that you were able to learn more about your car. That Marti Report is great documentation too.
