Contact your legislators now!
At Ruger, our motto is "Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens." It is not just a slogan; it is genuine recognition that millions of law-abiding citizens use our firearms safely and responsibly every day. We are mechanics, doctors, teachers, police officers, firemen, nurses, factory workers, and every other occupation you can name. We are a vast and too-often silent majority ... and our rights are under attack.

Make your voice heard too!
Given the forces assembling against us, merely relying upon lobbying efforts is insufficient. Law-abiding firearms owners must stand up and be heard. This affects all of us, so we cannot stand idly by and rely upon others to fight on our behalf. Too much is at stake.

Step one: Please click on one of the buttons to the right for an easy way to tell your legislators you care about gun rights. The Take Action Now! button allows you to send a prepared email letter quickly and easily. The Find Your Representatives button has detailed contact information for each of your legislators so, if you prefer, you can call them or write them a more personal letter.

Step two: Get all your friends to help support our rights; ask them to click on the link and send letters too. Click here to email this web page to your friends.

More: Many elected officials have been looking for an opportunity to curtail our gun rights and think they can win now if they move quickly while emotions are high. In Washington D.C. and in state legislatures across the country, anti-gun forces are gathering and conspiring in an effort to pass bad legislation that goes beyond anything we have ever seen. At least one legislature is discussing making public the identity of all pistol permit holders, treatment typically reserved for convicted sex offenders.

Reality seems to be lost on these folks. Cities like Washington D.C. and Chicago, with some of the strictest gun laws on the books, are hotbeds of violent crime. Nationally, violent crime involving firearms has declined since the expiration of the Federal "assault weapons ban," while lawful ownership of firearms has increased. More lawful gun ownership, less crime.

To help your voice be heard, we have set up this special service on our website. By clicking on the Take Action Now! link, you can contact your legislators.

Please act now, before it's too late.

I do not agree with the positions taken by the NRA on magazine capacity (are 30 rounds necessary?), not supporting background checks for all firearms sales (this seems like a no-brainer, but yet they oppose it), and regulating assault weapons (we don't allow civilians to own machine guns or bazookas/RPGs, so regulations DO exist about defining the types of small arms that are available to the public). I doubt that additional gun control laws will have significant impact in terms of increasing public safety, but reasonable regulations are OK by me. I think the NRA missed a HUGE opportunity after the Connecticut shooting to stem the irrational fears of some gun owners by introducing their own proposals in the interest of public safety that still afford Americans the benefits provided by the 2nd Amendment. Had the NRA offered their own plan, then it wouldn't be the government infringing on the rights of gun owners. Gun control is a polarizing topic, and sadly it seems that reasonable compromise is no longer possible. Which is why it is important to make your voice heard by contacting your Representatives in Washington to let them know where you stand.

Extremely well said Bill, I couldn't agree more (this coming from a gun owner as well).

Gun Control isn't about the guns, it's about " control " like all government wants of us.

YES WE CAN own full automatic and machine guns in Oregon.
Just a back ground check and a one time $200.00 permit fee, I can own a machine gun. I am not a nut case and no waya will I go out shooting a bunch of kids, movie theaters or anyone for that matter.

I WILL how ever defend myself, life, home and family against invaders of ANY kind. Even those that want to take my guns.

What is the difference of a 30 round magazine or a 20 or a 10 ???
If a nut case has 3 - 30 round mags or 10 - 10 round mags, he'll still do the same amount of damage. Where's the case ? They do not want to and they fail to address the real fact, they do not want to control the nut cases. It will cost them too much. ( us too much )
They know it stems from the juctice system. Releasing criminals, soc alled rehabilitated dirt bags. R I G H T No way.
The death sentance is there for a reason, a GODD reason. The people voted it in misc. States, The governor and system is REQUIRED to use it.
THAT would control most of it.

It's not the guns, it's the morons out there. The media, our judicial system and our school systems create these nut bags.

Schools are the Socialist, communist Liberal training camps, Teachers are the instructors there.
Our government uses the school system ( colleges and univ. included ) to
bread liberal class after liberal class after another.
The teacher a big problem.

You can leave a loaded cocked gun on a counter, not touch it for 30 years.
NOTHING would happen UNTIL...... some idiot picked it up, pointed it and pulled the trigger.

Plain and simple.

The 2nd Amendment is there for US to protect OURSELVES from OUR Government.

Look at alcohol, it kills more people a year than anyone with a gun does. they haven't even started to talk about banning alcohol.
Vehicles kill even more people every year than guns ever do.

Will they outlaw cars ? LOL HELL NO There are more idiots behind the wheel of a car than handling guns.
You stand more of a chance getting killed by some liberal, irresponsible teenager texting in their car than by a whack with a gun somewhere.

It's not the guns.

Besides, our government is suppose........ to defend our rights, constitution and freedoms. Not take them from us like the worthless conn artists that are in there now do.

Let them come :) I am MORE than ready if they even think to try to take my guns from me.

Below is a link to the video from Meet The Press last weekend with Sen. Chuck Schumer - NY and Sen. Ted Cruz - TX

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcmCFZZL7tM

Only the first 9 minutes or so deal with gun control. It is interesting to hear, especially when Senator Cruz refutes the 40% claim about private-party gun sales. I was surprised to hear Sen. Schumer be supportive of the 2nd Ammendment at all.

Gun Control isn't about the guns, it's about " control " like all government wants of us.

YES WE CAN own full automatic and machine guns in Oregon.
Just a back ground check and a one time $200.00 permit fee, I can own a machine gun.

There are a few states that allow that type of thing, but each state has established their own restrictions and licensing requirements without trampling on the 2nd Ammendment. Alcohol and automobiles are not free of restrictions either - both are regulated to ensure public safety. I think part of the reason for Government's desire for more gun legislation is their belief that the fees will help generate much needed revenue. So we will see legislation introduced (not necessarily passed into law) for mandatory gun registration (fees), and sin taxes on ammo. Those money-grab efforts will not likely pass. I believe that more moderate ideas could be made into law to improve public safety without destroying the 2nd Ammendment, but that may be unrealistic since no one is willing to budge on either side.

****Rant on *****

Further gun legislation, specifically legislation that determines how many bullets I can carry in my gun, is laughable. ANYONE that remotely believes that a criminal psycopath gives a crap about what laws they break is out of touch with reality. Oh wait....I have to use a 7 round magazine to go shoot up the local Panera Bread because my girlfriend broke up with me....Really????? Come on guys..think harder here. Criminals don't care about laws. All new laws will do is make YOU and YOUR family MORE unsafe, because YOU will abide by those laws.

Mental health issues should be the driving force behind putting a stop to this chaos. But please tell me how our society can determine when little Johnny is going to snap because his tax return wasn't enough money to buy the new car he wanted and his mommy wouldn't loan him 50k so he decides to kill EVERYONE at the car dealership???? There is no way we can read minds and unless there is some sort of IDENTIFIABLE BEHAVIOR observed, with laws allowing incarceration/treatment we will never know when the next idiot will decide to kill.

The police cannot protect you. The police and the school board cannot protect your kids in school. The school teacher with a CCW in the classroom can and will. I am amazed by all the shock and awe I read regarding the OMG "assault weapon bushmaster style military assualt rifle". I am waiting for all the anti-gun citizens/pacifists/sheep to finally agree with how great it would have been if Dawn Hochsprung (principal at Sandy Hook) would have had said OMG assualt rifle locked in a container to use against the evil monster shooting 6 yr olds in the face 10 times outside her office door. You know what though....I bet some anti gun anti second amendment citizens/pacifists/sheep will never agree it would have a good thing for her to be able to run down that hall with a rifle, instead of trying to stop the attack unarmed.

There has been significant banter around the internet as a result of some Sheriffs in our country claiming they will not enforce "unconstitutional" gun legislation. This is nothing more than "sabre rattling" by these men because they in fact don't determine what is or is not constitutional. Individual law enforcement officers, Sheriffs, Chiefs et al. can not selectively interpret or decide if legislation that has been adopted is constitutional. That is truly a decision for the courts. I also believe that MANY politicians, regardless of party affiliation, write laws and make deals under the cloak of darkness and secrecy that are NOT the will of We the People. Senate Bill 5 in Ohio is a perfect example. Thankfully, in our society we have checks and balances. Regardless of what legislation gets passed, it will be evaluated and in the end the Supreme Court will make a ruling. When that happens Law Enforcement will be bound by oath to enforce these laws, whether we agree with them or not, or resign.

So when that day comes, I will decide to enforce the laws, or drop my badge on the desk and ride off into the sunset. What shall I do you ask? Here is a hint....I will not collect guns from law abiding citizens for my govt. I also have no intention of giving my guns to my govt because they think they can make me safer, by taking away my opportunity to make myself safer. Everyone will have to decide. I already have.

Lastly YOU are responsible for YOUR own safety. It is 2013 so wake up, buy a gun, practice and become proficient with it, and carry it everywhere you go. If you ever need a gun to protect yourself or your loved ones, it will be the most imortant thing you have ever needed in your life.

Politicians are idiots and all 545 of them need to be fired!

oh wait.....I think we should ban bayonet lugs on rifles too. You just never know when I might decide to murder someone with my bayonet? These steps are baby steps to the politicians, who just want a little here, and a little there. New York had a law already on the books that you could only have 10 round magazines. Now they have lowered it to 7. Next year they will try to lower it to 3. New York is a perfect example of the government taking steps to take away your freedom. It is beyond me why adult persons cannot recognise this

The second amendment was written so that I would have the capacity and capability to protect my freedom when my government takes steps to take away that freedom. That folks, is reality. The NRA understand this and will never give back down from this, as they shouldn't.

I tell you what lets do. Lets put a national bill on the ballot in all 50 states and then all the anti gun, anti second amendment, sheeple will find out that the VAST majority of Americans have, want and carry guns. They are here to stay, regardless of what that evil bitch Diane Feinstein would have you believe.

ok...I am done with this crap. This is a car forum.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Please let me know when somebody finds the long lost addendum to that last parts that says "...except for _____ or _____ or ......"
