These were given to me by my friend retired Fleet Manager Jimmy Crump. They are a couple from the batch of 100 1988's. This one is a lone 88 (unknown Perm/Unit #)... Pic's were taken at GSP HQ (Motor Pool) at 959 Confederate Ave.
This is just a snapshot from my iPad of the original 10X12

This one is my favorite. It's a group photo with the first two Perm #'s visible on windshield ( 8316 & 8314 ) . Third is illegible ... I had this one blown up poster size 20"X 24" , framed and hung in my office :-)

Hope you enjoy :-)

Either way just thought you guys might enjoy putting name and car numbers with pics we've all seen numerous times.

It may be possible if only a partial badge # is visible (say 2 out of the 3)... But those will be posted as possibles...

Or, if you want info on your GSP, I'm more than willing to help...

I have a very special picture I'll be posting soon. Unfortunately it's pretty small and I'm gonna try to see what can be done to make Perm #'s out on three of the four cars in pic ( rear end not visible on last car).

It is the equivalent of a EVOC pic. GSP made the Troopers attend a orientation at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center ( GPSTC) in Forsyth Ga, before they were assigned a Mustang. It has four GSP Mustangs lined up on road course with a helmeted Trooper walking to one of the cars.

Master Trooper Steve Black
Badge # 836
Post 9 Marietta
1990 GSP Perm # 0201
VIN 1FACP40E1LF210335

Trooper Black was issued 0201 used in 1994. He patrolled it for two years. It was crashed during the time of the Olympics in Atlanta in 96. Trooper Black was coming to assist in a high speed chase at the time. As he came around a sharp curve at a very high rate of speed, unbeknownst to him the primary Troopers had done a Felony stop. Trooper Black swerved across the median on the opposite side of roadway to slow down. At that exact time a motorist did a illegal U-turn. As Trooper Black went by the motorist plowed into the right door and quarter panel of Trooper Blacks Mustang.

It was sold to a dealer in Cleveland Ga that bought resold and parted these car out. This one was partially parted out. A good friend of mine now has the body. It will be a very easy restoration needing only right door and quarter replace (along with parted out pieces).

This was one of the first batches of 88' GSP's at orientation at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center ( GPSTC) in Forsyth, Ga.
This would be the equivalent of a EVOC, although not as advance I'm told, as say CHP's. It was mainly to show Troopers the handling differences between a heavy Crown or Caprice and the more nimble lighter and quicker Mustangs. And I was told it was "to keep Post Commanders from getting sued if a Trooper got hurt or killed in a wreck because he was thrown into a lighter faster patrol car with out any training"... (Source withheld) but very reliable...

We ran a VINCHECK on it a while back and it has no records past GSP. Would be really KEWL CAR to restore for sure if it ever turns up. It was not wrecked before being turned in by Trooper so unsure why there's no record ( it COULD BE still around?)...

This pic was sent to me by Charles Walker. He knew nothing of it except he purchased it off eBay years ago. This one took a little while :-) The trooper was issued a 1988 Mustang used and probably as a temporary unit. One thing that struck my contacts strange was the fact the Trooper was wearing the old revolver and bullet clip belt (long gone by the time the 1988 Mustangs came on the scene). So best we can tell (even with the oddity) is this is a legit and authentic photo...

Bobby: Do you recognize any 1984 and or 1985 LTD GSP VINs in that list?

Mick I started getting together a list of all GSP small LTD's but have not finished them yet. After Savannah show I will get back on them for you.

This was the very second 1988 GSP Mustang. It was one of the two cars in the photo from the Dearborn assembly plant. Jimmy Crump brought one back on May the 9th 1988 (the car assigned to Sophie Thigpen 251). This one was left behin to have the bumpers painted blue. It arrived on Mat 19th 1988 and was assigned to Trooper Jerry Ward 505.

This car is the car that the promo car (first one built) by GMP. Google results will show their first car had 505 on the roof.

This Trooper was a good friend of Jack Houston and was the reason that GSP 1238 had 505 on its roof as a tribute to Jerry... (For those that do not know 1238, it is the car David had and sold to Russ and Brad now has) The only confirmed slick top the was issued to James Eberhart 702 Post Commander of post 10 Americus Ga.

This is one of the two publicity photo's taken by GSP...
Soo this cars info;

1988 GSP Mustang
Perm #8264
VIN # 1FABP40E9JF22XXXX (# with held as it is actively being searched for)

Another pic of the 1983 GSP Mustang that was the first one wrecked in service with very low miles. Still working on which one of two cars I have it narrowed down to, that it is. GSP did not start putting Perm #'s on trunk lids until 1984... So this pic did not help me in that quest...

I LOVE that ACE license plate and would give my left arm for one. I've been on the SCHP ACE Team since late 04', but we can't display the lightning bolts on our cars anymore. Keep the pics coming!

Bobby, we have JF225811 confirmed in our VIN Project as Perm #8282, not Perm #8292. If the car on the let side of the photo is 8292, then the VIN would be JF225813, right?

:p Typo on my part Bill... It is 8282... 8292 is my 88 "wrecked in service GSP"

Will you please Edit it for me?

Hey Bobby,

Thanks for the GSP information. LF188109 is not yet listed in our VIN Project. Are you able to post up the GSP documentation for this VIN, unit, and badge number? If so, you can put it in the VIN Project thread rather than clutter this one up. ;)

Is especially registered for this picture just to find that it is the 1988 car that Trpr. G. Sharpton used before my 1991 SSP car.

Bobby, I am astonished by the pictures you already posted here. Do you know where I can possibly find more in service pictures of 1991 Badge 176 by Trpr. G. Sharpton? Perm was #1207.
