Been doing research on car off to a good start but not sure i will get any paperwork on its ISP history. Got the vehicle history report from Idaho transportation dept. Reached out to the couple that were 1st listed owners in Idaho 1989. They bought it with 70k miles on it they called me back and were super excited it isnt scrap. Older couple but 29 yrs ago it was their fast lil "rigg" as they put it. They bought from whollesaler that got from ISP they informed me when they got it she was all black with super dark tint. They had it 5 yrs in which time they had accident pulling out of driveway. Said it was minor crease in drivers rear 1/4. Which explains the body work i can see and it seems to be failing 25+ yrs later. They asked for current pictures and they didnt hate the porno pimptastic interior lol. They are currently looking for possible photos. But all paperwork went with car in a box sadly. Keeping my fingers crosssed for pictures. They invited me to their place in Idaho but little long of a ride for a weekend. Maybe will head to a show over that way in future make few stops on the trip. But wont be until its gone through.

Sorry for catching this late, I have histories on the ISP cars if you need them. I have been told by Fleet about the 1983, 1986 and 1989 purchases not about any 1985's... so you can take that for what it's worth. 1986 they purchased 22 according to their fleet guys with 12 in 1983 and an unknown amount in 1989. I will also have the decal size cutouts for mine ('86) in the next few weeks to verify the sizing. I can help you with finding the necessary clues for if it's a roll bar or non-roll bar car. I also have the radio supplier contact information for them in that era too. I spoke to the guy that used to prep those cars back in the day, he is now a service manager for the dealership that bought out the original SSP dealership.

Do you have a Marti report for the car? It should have been sold out of Bob Rice Ford there in Idaho.

Good luck with your SSP!

Just posting this up to see what the thoughts are of all that respond. Its been said and its posted that the 86 ISP's used the GE phoenix radio and unitrol siren neither of them have a huge trunk unit that takes a tray. But in my trunk there is def evidence of a tray mount. Like i had in most of my past SSP's. I know my trunk super sexy like my interior try to see past it and give me your thoughts.. Thank you for any help.

Got out 20 mins early today not my normal 13+ hr night so opened garage for few minutes wanted to look quick for build sheet where i found it on NC car but the rug is a replacement. So no luck but also no mark on floor from it so still hope. But dis find bolts that look like they went through original rug. They are carriage bolts i'm guessing shotgun rack 2 on driveshaft tunnel other 2 on floor by drivers door. I know ive read they kept shotguns on ISP's across tunnel. What you think? Def not rillbar holes wrong unless was single hoop fir driver.

Shot gun was mounted on the trans hump on the 1991 and newer cars according to the Fleet guys and they also said that the shotguns were in the trunk (no specifics). I have found no evidence of that on mine either... then again, I do not have evidence of the roll bar either!?

Looks like this 1 is staying with me for now, think interior svared most away. Well today will change that i bought a 1986 LX 6cyl 41k mile 1 owner donor car. Paint is fried off it but interior mint. I will also be taking bumper covers tail lights and bolt on body panels. The strut towers and floors are 95 % rust free. Maybe part rest out or if Joe needs for MSP maybe donate. Also made some friends in the ISP they got me correct state door seals the old style not thr 1 with star and current plates.

So have a few questions maybe somebody can help with or just get us all thinking lol.. so a pict on here of a 83 Idaho car all black with white roof but if you lool at buck tags posted it said came from ford with white doors. Maybe the reason nobody knew of the 85 ISP's is because atleast mine came with those same 14" steel wheels with caps because it was ordered automatic and from what i read the 85 auto ssp's came with 14" steel and my marti report confirmed for my car. So other than the mouldings and double exhaust you wouldnt really notice the difference unless you look at interior of the 85? Mine was also ordered with a center console. If the batch of 5 mine falls in were the only 85 ISP'S maybe they just went unnoticed. Maybe some of you have pictures that were thought to be 83's but are posssibly the mysterious 85's? Hope this to be the case to help with my cars resto.

The '83s had black interior, which wasn't offered in '85. Also, the '86s in the pic had CHMSLs, which was the first year for those.

Your '85 should be easy to spot with the 14 inch wheels and full size wheel covers.

Possibly!! No haven't had time to touch donor car and ssp still up on stands have some old Eagle's a friend gave me i need to get mounted on the 15" steelies sorry but can't do the 14" hubcap route. its going to be a struggle for me to keep it auto. My guess is when 86's came to Idaho the 83's that weren't wrecked didn't stay in service much longer so i would bet they swapped the 85 to the 15" so they didn't have to keep 14" wheels and tires in stock..Mine looks to have been in service until 89.

The two bottom photos are confirmed 86's. A friend of mine from California actually took the middle photo in Idaho for reference and the other was confirmed by Idaho SP fleet. The Idaho SP fleet also confirmed the use of the 86's but I have not gotten feedback on 85's since I was told by them that they purchased in '83, '86, and '89 only and typically were kept in service for about 70,000+ miles then replaced. I have made contact with a road sergeant there in Idaho that used to drive the 86's maybe he can shed some light on the 85's.

The '85s I have seen in-service pics of, that were CFI cars, all had full-size wheel covers. I'm sure exceptions exist, and departments/and/or officers might have switched things around, but an Eminger Invoice would show you what covers came on your car. Have you asked for one of those yet?

Looking around in ISP yesterday found a White Castle stock fund receipt under drivers seat for a Scott. The name on fan shroud is Scott on my carfax car was in Indiana since 2005 so looked up on google white castles then the persons name. Found white castle and his address in Indianapolis and his wifes name Samantha which is also on fan shroud. On carfax color noted as red for 1st time in 2007 so my hope is they have pictures from before it was redor any additional information on history or past owners.. it was also titled in Washington and Illinois. Of course in Idaho. Fingers crossed

My wife wants driveway clean so donor needs to go asap so i was allowed some time in driveway today. I started on SSP removed the seats the center console and carpet. Found the holes for equipment mounting on passenger side of trans hump. Also tore off some of the velour from dash. Looks like the mic mounted above drivers right knee low on dash. Looks like mystery switch hidden on dash was wired to brake switch so my guess it was a kill switch like FHP and my KHP. Also dug around some mystery wires on radiator support looks like the head light harnesses were cut into. Found ground wire on passenger bumper reinforcement for siren i think. No pictures today my phone battery was dead. Will try to get some this week.

So she is going to new home a RI LEO picked the ISP and donor car up yesterday. It is his 1st SSP, he has been shopping for 1 a long time. He likes the idea of how rare the ISP is and it was close to home so shipping much less. He drove here about a hour and a half in ramp truck the SSP went on top and donor on tow bar behind. He is getting his community involved he already went to local trade school. The students will be in on restoration, paint and wiring the ISP.He also reached out to local TV about the project so they will be possibly covering it. He wants to do it close to original as possible i can't wait to see it done. He should be joining the forums and keep us all informed on progress. Should be good for our hobby. Thank you to all that were interested she went to good home..
