I just bought this car out of Chester GA about a month ago. The owner said it was an FHP car, got there to pick it up and saw the speedo and holes for spotlight, antenna's etc. I posted the info and found out it was in a group of 5 consecutive vins, and that the last 4 of those cars went to GA. I ordered a marti report on the car, turns out it is an SSP and has an Atlanta DSO. These are some pics of the car, and some brackets on the front bumper cover and a couple pics of a red light above the license plate, and a red third brake light thing. The third brake light says Cyclops on it.

That is a great find!!! I believe that is the first '83 GSP on the forum. At least I have not seen another. Try to post some pics of the engine and interior.

It's not a GSP. It could be GBI or a city agency. I'm having my contacts work on this one for Wayne. The 10 1983 GSP vin's are known and this is not in that range.

This rear light is a unusual one has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Would that be the Georgia Bureau of Investigations? Is that anything like the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)?

This car is my cars older brother :-) although not a GSP. It is a Georgia SSP and was built real close to the same time frame as the 10 GSP's were...

My 83 GSP...

Yes mostly Narcotics and fugitive agents. Only thing is the GBI's cars did not have spotlights nor did they have multiple antenna's. My contact told me today that a couple cities also had them. More to come soon on that.

Yeap! The Statues of limitations are long over by now http://specialservicemustang.net/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif. We know what you mean.

Also not mentioned this is a factory black on black SSP. Single buck tag so it was not a special paint car. Very stealthy...

Yes I'm going to try to get the title in my name Monday so I can order one if it's available. Thanks for the help with the pics Bobby!

Thanks man, I can't wait to find more info either! I found this car kinda on accident. I was looking for a coupe to modify the way I wanted, and I'll be damned if I didn't find another ssp lol. I suppose that's a good predicament to be in :). I'm gonna do both of these cars justice and restore them to in service condition. I have a good lead on a 79 tangerine v8 coupe so hopefully I can turn it into the hot rod I want and start to build the ssp's.

Yeah, I bought the 83 sight unseen and figured for $400 I couldn't go wrong. I'm glad I called the guy because it was on its way to the crusher. He had allready struck a deal with a scrapper, I gave him a hundred more bucks than that guy offered and he was willing to wait on the wire transfer for the money. I had to deal with his elderly parents when we went to pick it up. His dad said "I reckon you'uns ain't got much sense up there". He thought I overpaid for the car lol.
