Since my car was delivered to FHP on 8/86 I am debating whether to go with the older style tag only on the back or the little newer style on the back and front. What do you guys think? The tags will cost me approximately $100 each.

Please look at the link before voting.

Marcos,

I have FHP 1187 (the earlier version), and it has the dates it was in-service on the back of it, just like several others I have. The correct plate for yours is definitely the earlier one, but I can double-check the dates, if you want.

If your car came out of service late, it certainly could have had the later plates. 1987 isn't a definite switchover, and FHP didn't necessarily pull their plates immediately when a different version came out (I saw cars with different version running around in the '90s).

Go with what you like. :D

Just bringing up this old thread because I finally got my front license plate. It is period correct and I am very pleased. I leave to Colorado tomorrow and I have to work tonight so when I get back I will post a picture of the car with the tag.

go with which ever one on the back and use the a-a tag up front, I think they look good.
And if anyone wants an ARRIVE ALIVE tag on a current style tag for their car, here is a site you can make your own. I just got a new Fla. style tag with it for my work ride and it is real good quality. will post pick this weekend.

i have a red and white undated arrive alive plate to use with the 83 fhp. planning on using the green and white arrive alive plate on the the 1987 unit 1197 car since i only have one plate. going to have two of the correct plates made by the platemeister for the 93 # 1363 car.
