Many of you may remember the pair of '88 NYSP SSP's we acquired from a fellow member a couple years ago. The first car (the one we restored) had about 60k miles when taken out of service with a blown engine. The first civilian owner pulled the engine and trans and the car sat ever since. The second car was rusted / rotted beyond belief, but had a complete running drivetrain. We decided to take the pair to make one. Here are few pics.

This picture was taken from an article MOSTANG acquired from the Buffalo August 5, 1990 Magazine. Based on the equipment mounting screw holes we found in the car, we decided to mimic this equipment setup. Plus, we thought it was pretty cool to have the radar antenna mounted just behind the console.

We're nearly finished, just waiting on decals and need to wrap up some minor things. We lucked into a set of NOS quarter windows and a NOS h-pipe we decided to use on this car. We haven't decided if we want to add the red pinstripe in the body moulding or not. I've seen pictures of NYSP's both with and without. When we got the car, it didn't have any, except on the rear bumper.

Car looks great Jonathon!!! I personally like the ones with the red stripe as it adds a little something extra and ties in with the light bar...

It's looking great, glad the article could be of help. Any interior pics you can share? Awesome looking car! And for whatever it's worth, I think the red stripe is an interesting touch, if it originally had it.

Thanks guys! We aren't quite finished with the interior, but here is a quick pic. Still waiting on a replacement multifunction switch to come in, finalize the mount / height of the radar antenna, and a few other minor things. We decided to reuse all of the original interior, with the exception of replacing the carpet and headliner.

As I mentioned above, our car only had the red stripe on the bumper when we got it like this in-service picture here. So we were leaning toward just doing that.

But, it certainly looks good all the way around.

The 1988 NYSPs with VINs ending with JF2588xx were the only 1987-89 units that I have seen so far that have a MLDG code on their door tag other than "XXX". The 1988 NYSPs with VINs ending with JF2588xx that I have seen so far have MDLG code "SSS".

Ford switched to a single letter MLDG code for 1990 and "X" has been on every SSP door tag so far for those two years. Ford started painting moldings body color in 1992 and there have been a multitude of MLDG codes so far for those last two years, ranging from A through L.

The 1990 NYSPs with VINs ending with LF2055xx that I have seen so far have MLDG code "X".

Impressive job! I like the red stripe, too, as it is unique to NYSP. That might be your car in the picture, though. I would duplicate the in service picture. What are the odds of there being another with just the bumper stripe.

There's a good chance if your car didn't come from the factory with the red stripe, it picked up the single one it has because the rear bumper needed to be replaced and was taken from another car that had them and was being parted out...a common fleet practice.

I ordered a set of decals from M-Squad for my FHP car in April 2015 and still haven't received them yet. I have sent many emails to Dave and the last time he responded to one was august 2015.

Unfortunately, yes. I paid Dave in full in March 2014 for the NYSP decals, and gave him a deposit for our '89 LSP, '86 ISP, '90 NMSP, '85 OHP, and '89 UHP sets. I was told in February 2015 the NYSP decals were done, that they just needed to be cut. I was told in June 2016 that he would start shipping things out in two weeks. Still waiting...

Apparently Dave''s email inbox is full too. I just tried to email him to ask a related question and it bounced back. :(

He rarely answers his phone. My LSP decals were supposed to ship 5 months ago. Still waiting. Ordered March 2015. I am going to lose interest in the car, before I ever see them.

I personally was not very impressed with the ones he did for a GSP... Font was really close but that was about all. He did them on reflective vinyl which was not correct. GSP never used reflective material. A little more homework on his part and he would have noticed this... They were originally ordered by David P or Russ not sure which? But came with GSP 1238 and ended up being used on GSP 2222... I hope the other States are more acurate:2thumbs:

Add my name to the list of folks that have paid in full and received nothing but excuses, I paid over 2 years ago and played the excuse game for over a year, now just no responses and no product. He had excuses from his health to not having the proper cutting equip etc...... pathetic

Show up the the police car shows in Cleveland and Chicago and you'll likely see him there in person.

At this point he is no more than a fraudster..... too bad for a guy that seemed to be the "go to guy" for a lot of people on here, Can't say I would ever recommend him ever again....

I am going to try an alternative method to provide the door shields for my 89 MSP car. I have all the decal sets for all my cars except that one.

Jonathon if you have an 86 ISP (Idaho) car I can get you a set of decals made off of my set. They have not been installed yet. I am pretty sure my guy can scan them and make duplicates.

Hi Jim, we do have a '86 Idaho. I will certainly take you up on that if it isn't too much trouble. Please hold off for now and let me try once again to touch base with Dave. The last time he and I spoke, he stated that he had our Idaho and Louisiana door decals done (which I've already paid for).

Would this be true? Good news, finally?
