Southern California's Tri-County Mustang Club presents their 24th annual Ponies By The Sea Mustang and Ford Car Show to be held on the grass at the Ventura Harbor Village in Ventura, CA on Sunday, October 14th from 10-3. This is a benefit event for Guide Dogs of America and will be held rain or shine.

I'll be there with CHP #3035 and there will be at least one other SSP in attendance, a restored in-service Texas DPS Mustang that's being shown in these parts for the first time.

Come on down!

Well, it was a very enjoyable show and a great drive to and from too. The Texas SSP was a no-show due to the owner getting injured on the job the week before and not being able to make the drive over. I've talked to him since and we'll hook up at a future show for sure. There was an interesting emerald green '91 civvie coupe there that the owner told me was once owned by the County of Santa Barbara.

I checked it over completely and found no identifying markings but it did have this interesting bracket attached above the windshield and next to the inside rearview mirror:

Does anybody recognize what this might have been for? Windshield light? Or maybe just a radar detector? The car is currently on its third owner and he doesn't know how it got there.

My car was really well received to say the least. When I get a chance to let the it run at shows, I fire up the lights and have the scanner on and tuned to the local CHP frequencies so it makes for a nice display that draws them in. Didn't get too many chances to sneak away and enjoy the rest of the show but I did manage to take a few shots:

Nice pics, Mike. That mount looks like one of the mounts for the magnetic, EES (Coplite) deals. I think Santa Clara used these on their Mustangs. Jim Y. will be able to tell us for sure...he ordered one from them awhile back when he had the '91.

I think you're right-on about that bracket Mike. Here's photos from Coplite's website showing their "SWING DOWN HOT SHOE" model lamp:

Looks identical to me.

I didn't find a single hole drilled anywhere in that car so if it saw LE duty, they must have been using only mobile comm equipment with it. I directed the owner to go seek information on his car from the county's fleet department. I hope he does and gets back to me.

It might have been a confiscated Mustang that the city decided to use for law enforcing purposes.

It might have been a confiscated Mustang that the city decided to use for law enforcing purposes. That does happen but the owner stated that the local Ford dealship had records on the car that showed Santa Barbara County bought it there brand new. Too bad they didn't order SSPs like Santa Clara County did for their DAs office!
