1987 CHP Spare Tires

A question for the CHP experts. We're the rims on the full size spares also painted black? Mine had the original black rims but the spare was silver. I think it may have been replaced.

however.....

I have several original spares from Ford. They were black as well and also had a decal attached to the face pertaining to the gatorbacks being a direction tire.

Yes, the spare tire wheel matched the wheels that were on the patrol vehicles.

This is probably true when the car was new. But it's likely that an ASM would have put any Mustang spare tire they had in the trunk. I would consider either color correct in my opinion...
