The "tail hook" CHP car has been sold and is headed to York PA where the new owner plans a complete restoration. I believe he will be joining here at some point next week when the car is delivered.

My SSP fleet reduction is final.....for now anyway.

Hi everyone. I am the new owner of 0594. I've had the car for about 2 weeks and it is running once again. I'm new to Ford's so this is a learning experience. Next things on the to do list are brakes and probably a new clutch. I will keep you posted.

Welcome to the site. It sounds like Jim found a great buyer for this SSP. I know that we all will enjoy watching (and encouraging) your progress. :)

Hi guys. Progress over the winter was slow but I did make progress. Clutch was messed up. Somebody had done a poor job of trying to replace it. Disc and pressure plate were like new still. Throwout bearing was seized. Replaced just the bearing and had the flywheel resurfaced. Seems to be good now. Rack and pinion and all the power steering lines were replaced. It was leaking everywhere. Starter went bad, so replaced that as well. Repaired leaky exhaust manifolds too. Replaced a leaky wheel cylinder. Lastly, pulled the differential cover, checked the health of the gears and filled it with new fluid. Mechanically, it is road worthy again. I'll need to drive it around some to verify that it's OK. If everything checks out, it'll be on to body and paint.

Glad to hear of all the progress, Frank. One day there will have to be a meeting of the '82's. Yours will be the 7th or 8th restored one when completed.

0594 looks almost identical to 0327. Both painted white, both with the hood scoop painted black, etc.

Car is coming apart piece by piece. I've been sanding each panel and removing them for paint prep. A friend is doing the final sanding and paint work.

In response to what I was using. Good old fashioned sanding. Purchased a D/A sander and used lots of 300 grit sandpaper. I probably have close to 40 hours of sanding in it, maybe more.
The hood, fenders, doors and trunk are painted. My buddy has the bumpers covers currently. When they are done, the car itself will get painted. The car is behind schedule but it is making progress. I'm now doing some of the mechanical repairs that weren't necessary for being road worthy but will increase it's looks and safety. Might as well while I'm waiting on paint for the main body. I've come to realize that every piece of rubber on this car is dry rotted. It'll get done. Divide and conquer. I'll post pictures soon.

Your avatar photo looks exactly like my vehicle, 0327, looked when I got it. All white, faded, with it wearing off in places and the black paint showing through.
40 hrs of sanding, wow, you've got patience and determination! For the rubber, take a look at Soffseal:

https://www.soffseal.com/

They'll send you a catalog on request. I got 0327's rubber parts from there and they were fine to work with.

Good luck!

Hi everyone,
Quick update. Nothing really to show other than a change of venue. The car was delivered to my buds place to get the roof, quarters and jams painted. Should be getting started on this thing Monday or Tuesday. Pics will follow once done. Here it is at his shop.

Hi everyone.
Working on this car pretty consistently since this time last year. Did a lot of equipment installation and interior work. Both are intertwined, so the "To do" list was pretty long. The steering wheel refurb came out nicely. That and the steering column covers were possibly the biggest area of improvement. Coming along nicely though and should be cruise worthy soon.
