FL300 on filter on non SSP Mustang

Has anyone ever used a Motorcraft FL300 oil filter on their non oil cooled SSP or regular 5.0 Mustang?
I bought a few for my 88 SSP and figured I could use it on my 87 Notch (not an SSP and no oil cooler).

I used an FL300 oil filter and it worked without any issues.

I think the shorter filter was just for clearance.
