We had a great weekend. The weather was nice on Saturday but Sunday was a washout. The awards were given 3 hours early and for the 1st time you did not have to be there to get it. Due to the rain they will ship the winners their awards. My FHP did not win any awards but I did get a lot of stories from people and Troopers.

I was nice to meet Danielle and Chris and spend the time with the rest of us who were there. Great DVDs and pictures by Danielle.

This reminds me, for those who were wondering, the total round trip mileage count was 660 for Bernie and I. I drove my FHP with decals covered and my lightbar with no cover. We passed several troopers and county sheriffs. No one stopped us to or from the show. In fact one Deputy waived at me as he passed me. On the way back, while gassing at a rest stop, a Trooper walked up to me and did not even ask if I was a LEO. He was just too happy to see the restored car. I did identify myself but I believe we made his night. I did not get arrested http://www.sspmustang.org/forums/images/smilies/dncinban.gif

I also learned that the magnets do not work on the cars when it is cool and rainy. I have to cover all my decals on the way back with only the blue painters tape.

Marcos,

Saw a few pics...your car looks great (and Bernie's too).

Also glad to see that the mythical FHP-restoration/color scheme police didn't hem you up.

Marcos,

Glad you had a good time and the car looks great. Too bad there were not many there but with that show it seems to be the norm. It is cool that the troopers were excited about the car and maybe your trip can disprove some of the blatant mis-information floating around the internet.

You and Bernie ought to try and make it to Columbus Ohio for the show up here in June. So far we have about 9 SSP cars from 9 different jurisdictions planning on being there. It will be a great time I am sure.

I also got the push bumpers today......very cool !!:2thumbs:

They would look really nice on a certain dark blue 4 eyed ssp car. ;)

June is hard for me because I pick up my son from NC to spend the summer here. If I can get my SUV by then maybe I can try to plan a trip and tow the FHP car.

I hope those push bumpers are just what the doctor ordered.

I had such a blast I didn't want to go to work today. When that Trooper started walking towards Marcos I thought uh oh, but he was really cool and commenced telling us stories about traffic stops in his Marauder.

Jim I would love to take the UHP to Ohio (this time under it's own power) but I have too much on my plate, but you never know.

Bernie, if you can make it there with the UHP I will make it there with the FHP in tow or driven if no kids.
