Seeing as I bought an 86 UHP car, I'm going to need as many pics of the inside and outside as possible fo accurate restoration. I looked at the pics on the other site but was hoping someone might have some more. Also, how do I find out the unit #.
Thanks
Gary

I have a few of an unmarked '86, but I don't think that'll help. Here is a slicktop '90 or '91 (from Real Stories of the Highway Patrol).

Rear decks look like halogen Dashmaster IIs (drivers side only).

A nice inside shot...Motorola radio and I can't see if that's a Federal PA200 or 300 for the siren. The radio is similar to what Ron found for his Indiana car (can't remember the model).

No prob...you might try calling them to see if they used that radio system in the late '80s, and they might be able to help you determine your unit number also.

I looked at Eric Prince's pics, and the rear decks in the '86 look like they have chrome housings (similar to what the Texas DPS used on the rear decks). Sho-Me still makes a light that looks exactly like those lights.

Mike,
Sorry to eavs drop but thanks for the info on the Utah SSP rear deck lights. I also bought a 86 USP a week ago and I am trying to restore and looking for parts. I emailed SSPGary and we are going to keep in contact to exchange info on the 86 USP. I haven't got anything as yet.

That's what we're here for. :)

Did you get the one on Ebay? If so, looked like that one had some pretty nice center caps on it (which is one of the hardest parts to find, IMO).

Yes I did buy the one on eBay. That wing was first to go. The guy said the wheels were in storage when he bought the car and he got them then. They are in great shape. There are a few things I need to redo like the black trim and a good used original dash pad. It is in good shape inside and a decent paint job outside. I will need help to find the what was used for equipment in that year inside. I beleive it was a slicktop because the two spotlights with the holes in the door frames indicate this. I have been trying to find the correct info on this but nothing as yet. Any help or referals will be appreciated. Thanks

I'd call the HP there and see if you can get hooked up with someone who can give you some more info on the radio system. They are supposed to now be on a 800 MHz Type II Smartzone, similiar to what FHP used to run. I highly doubt that your '86 ran that radio, as it was probably an older UHF (or VHF) radio system. The radio head pictured above can be used with both VHF or UHF systems (like the Syntor X or X9000s), which could have been the old system, or on the newer 800 MHz systems.

As for the lights and siren....you should be good to go. No idea on a light controller, though.

Gary (and PoliceSSP).

The '86 I have footage of is actually an AZ car, and not Utah. Not that it matters, but it didn't have any visible emergency equipment in it, either. They used it for a reenactment of a bank robbery, and the bad guy was driving it.

Does anyone have a rear pic of an 86 UHP car so I can see the lights?
