I look forward to getting down there in the future. It’s been many years since I’ve been to Alabama.

Phil was looking for a photo of a certain 1993 TxDPS Mustang, which belongs to a member. Here is it...

How many members have traveled to the Powell's Mustang Museum of America in Alabama? Here's the link for any new members -

https://mustangmuseumofamerica.com/

Debbie and I have not yet gone there, but it is on our list (well, mostly MY list) of things to do. There's a certain red Pierce County Sheriff's Department SSP that I wouldn't mind seeing again. It would be nice to see the Powell's again, too, of course! I was just wondering how many others have gone there and if they had pictures to post up?

ImEvil1 09-10-2021 10:41 PM

I haven't....but it's on the list.

MOstang 09-26-2021 05:49 PM

Not yet, but I will eventually.

28HopUp 10-19-2021 09:02 AM

This weekend, Debbie and I will be picking up a near-twin to her first vehicle - a 1989 Bronco II. It's gonna be her daily driver. We'll be going right by the museum and will certainly stop by for a visit. :D

My pics are too big to attach here. For those of you on Facebook, here are the pics from our visit -

Thanks for sharing, I will eventually make it there.

I was hoping to get some recommendations on car detailing products? Not just for the exterior - I need to thoroughly clean my fabric seats too. What do y'all use? Thx!

MOstang 07-14-2022 09:30 PM

Bill - I use Blue Coral upholstery cleaner on the seats. It works well for my needs. Thank you.

28HopUp 07-16-2022 09:16 AM

Thanks Mike. My 92 F150 is a bit rank sometimes. I doubt the seat has ever been cleaned other than vacuuming.

As a little back story, we've had the F150 for a few years now. The previous owner had a Maaco paint job applied what must be at least 10 years ago. The paint is far from perfect, but it is doing pretty we after all this time. Following Mile's advice, I used the M105 compound and M205 polish today on the F150. Attached shows the difference on the driver's side fender after just using the compound.

Here's the cloth I used to remove the M105 cutting compound. I had always thought the Maaco paint was base/clear. 'Turns out it is single stage

And here she is with compound and polish on all of it, with wax on just the roof. I will wax the rest of it this week. I am very happy so far. Once I get it completed, I will turn my attention to Debbie's Bronco II.

ImEvil1 07-18-2022 08:43 PM

Nice~

That turned out great!

A couple of weeks ago, my old boss asked me to help him sell a car he had inherited a couple of year ago from his grandfather. He and I had talked about the car before, but I had not seen it. Last week, Jack, Debbie, and I went to take a look at it...

The car is a 1959 Edsel Corsair 2-door hardtop coupe. It had been restored years ago by his grandfather and driven to several national shows over the years. It is an older restoration that hasn't been driven in about 2 years. My old boss needed it gone because they are moving. He accepted a low-ball offer, but it's not mine...

...our son is buying it! He will let me tinker with it too, of course. :) The car will be towed over this weekend so we can drain the fluids and check it over. More pictures to come.

28HopUp 11-02-2022 09:25 PM

Hope y'all had a good Halloween. No SSP news from me, other than I plan to pick up a full set of correct 82-84 SSP wheels in a couple of weeks for a car I have yet to buy.

ImEvil1 11-06-2022 11:02 PM

The TX car? :)

Why is FB more important than this site?

I’m just really curious why the lack of participation here, when FB isn’t a really good platform for being able to research prior knowledge, posts, and the fact that there is a great amount of content that is still here on this site - that’s isn’t available anywhere else, etc.

28HopUp 08-29-2024 10:15 PM

FB is an easy to use form of social media. It lacks the benefits found on the forum that you mentioned, yet the FB groups allow social contact between people with the same interests. The .ORG site was heavily impacted by social media because that site relied heavily on social interactions. Granted, it had its fair share of SSP tech, but the posts towards its end were not technical in nature, for the most part. So activity there died off, and once the webmaster passed away there was no way to keep it running.

This site also has seen a reduction in activity. There is still a good amount of tech here. I keep updating the SSP VIN Project because I enjoy promoting the research while I am "in-between" ownership of an SSP. I would love to see more folks post up here. The format here is still conducive to being viable. We just need to hear from our members more often. With regular forum contact, we can collectively promote the hobby.

Cobra Jet 08-31-2024 12:50 PM

Hi Bill,

Yes that is more along the lines of what I meant - like members still supporting this site instead on only the FB group(s).

I enjoy this site and all it has to offer; lots of tech, lots of history and lots of great folks. I’ve tried reaching out to some members on here via PM’s but got nothing back at all. Maybe they’re no longer are on here or elsewhere or don’t own an SSP any more (possible).

I post here with things I find, hoping those finds will help others seeking sorting different if never seen before or something they’ve been looking for but didn’t hit on it.

I think what is missed the most is the activity here from others.

Tell the FB Group to stop in once in a a while…. LOL!

Always good to hear from you and the hostages you do here are also appreciated.:)

As Bill indicated, it’s easy to use. Not to say a forum is not easy, but Facebook is easier and has an exponentially wider reach. Given that, one might mention it has “greater bang for the buck”.

This site is still great, which is why I return, but the ship has sailed in the sense a forum site (any of them) activity will never reach the scale of Facebook. I wish that wasn’t the case, but just being realistic.
