This is the column from my 92 GSP. Notice there is not even a hole for the button... Totally different column!

Upon further checking my 91 GT does not have one either. I think they stopped doing the buttons on the automatic cars when they went to the shifter lock out system. Maybe the 92 column with button is from a 5 spd? Hmmm... just checked and the 87 FHP has one... lol No help there, but any of these could have been swapped by now anyway...

My '92 has one....it's a 5 speed.

I do not recall ANY CHP units ever having an ignition key release on them.
I am sure CHP made that a delete option, or FORD may have. I am sure it was an option when ordering SSP's for the departments. But all I recall ever having to do was turn the key off and pull it out of the ignition. No release buttons on CHP SSP's. I drove the late 82's thru early 93's units on the patrol. |
My 90 CHP definitely does not have it either.

My '93 does have the release button... And it, the car, was ordered by the CHP. It is a 5-speed.
