This is the only build sheet that I have that has an "M" code for type of order.

Very cool ride indeed.....Marketing dept car....way too cool....great find for sure!!

28HopUp 10-06-2015 05:07 PM

A well-optioned car for sure. So glad that you found the build sheet, which says that it was built just like the CHIPS cars (with a few exceptions), which as we all know were SSP Mustangs.

ImEvil1 10-06-2015 06:18 PM

Yep...not too worried about the smaller tires listed on there, either. Waiting for word on the Eminger.

NoDrama43 10-06-2015 08:59 PM

with your luck they will probably have the Emminger invoice and stapled to it will be the original window sticker..... :)

good news on the car. So far this is the only documented 1982 SSP package non CHP car in existence that we know of correct? It would sure be nice to find the second one in the run.

FoxChassis 10-07-2015 07:35 AM

Second VIN in that group of two consecutive is 1FABP10F7CF234609, if anyone wants to run a vehicle history report or a Marti report on it. ;)

I believe so.

Hopefully, the other one is the same DSO/Special order and is still alive out there somewhere.

The 1982 page in our VIN Project has been updated to include this SSP -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/82VIN.html

The wording at the top has been changed, and the car has been added to the bottom.

NoDrama43 10-12-2015 11:17 AM

nice.

It is hard to argue with a build sheet...

Thanks for doing that, Bill.

No-go on the Eminger...got a refund from Marti Auto as they couldn't locate it. Still have something else in the works on it, though.

What could it be? :headscratch:

ImEvil1 04-10-2016 11:55 PM

Still haven't heard back from Marti....or anyone else. I did try and track down a fleet guy in the Houston area (long since retired), but I'm still trying to run that to ground, also. So basically, no new info.

However, I did stumble across this old scan from one of the police vehicle books I apparently have. I will start research on the plate tomorrow AM. Oddly enough, I posted this here in 2008 and didn't remember it.

It sure would be great if the plate matched up with a specific VIN. Even after all this time, the way you find build sheets I wouldn't be surprised if you hit paydirt on the plate.

NoDrama43 04-11-2016 09:37 AM

nice !! That plate number will have a VIN attached to it. Could be big news for somebody.

Any luck on the plate?:popcorn1:

ImEvil1 05-12-2016 08:04 PM

Not yet....no response from the state.

chp1982 09-14-2016 05:25 PM

Any new news on this car? Pic with the steelies???

ImEvil1 09-14-2016 07:53 PM

All dead ends. I was able to make contact with the family members of the retired fleet manager who may have had info on the car, but still haven't heard back. Unfortunately, he is having health issues.

Steelies are still in the box. I did rebuild the carb...and it desperately needs a new (stock) exhaust.

Units, as in plural. Wonder if CF234609, which is the second in that consecutive group of two P10F VINs, is also under DSO 26-0200?

Did anyone ever run a Marti Report on this second VIN? A Deluxe version would be better to see if it also comes back listed as a "Marketing Vehicle".

I don't think I ran one.....I did finally hear back from an employee there who looked to see if they had the Eminger for that one. Sadly, they do not.

I also called several companies who supposedly had old records for the license plate shown in the photo provided by Tpr. Pruett. Everyone claims that they do not have the info going back that far, including the state. I'm sure there's an old box of the records somewhere (or microfiche), just haven't met the right person who knows where that info might be.

28HopUp 02-09-2017 02:43 PM

Well, you have certainly tried! I will include CF234609 in my next batch of Marti Reports to order, and I will get the Deluxe version in hopes of confirming it as another Marketing Vehicle.

ImEvil1 02-09-2017 03:02 PM

Good deal, thanks.

28HopUp 02-09-2017 03:09 PM

Sure thing! I just ordered three reports:
  1. 1982 1FABP10F7CF234609 (the VIN after your 82)
  2. 1984 1FABP26M2EF224519 (DSO 83-0809)
  3. 1986 1FABP26M5GF257534 (Utah car)

I did four-eye cars because they are not found as often as the aero cars.

chp1982 02-09-2017 04:59 PM

That's great of you to do, Bill. Looking forward to seeing the report.

ImEvil1 02-09-2017 06:21 PM

Early prediction...it will be the same (marketing).

28HopUp 02-09-2017 11:42 PM

I hope so!

If EF224519 comes back as an SSP I have the door tag for it. It was on ebay in Lake Devil Hill ND in 2014.

06/84
special tu-tone paint (9W 1E)
grey cloth interior (FA)
AM radio (2)
3.27 (E)
AOD (T)
A/C, defrost, interval wipers, power locks

ImEvil1 03-14-2017 01:54 PM

No new concrete info on the '82. However, after talking with Jim Y. and Bobby I decided to swing by the shop and see if I have any white overspray around the trunk/roof line, in the nooks and crannies. I never really paid much attention to that before, but thought it was worth a closer look.

Looking into those areas with a flashlight, I could plainly see white at the top and sides of the roof (where the molding is). I could also see where the car was painted with the moldings left on, as there is a tape line with black overspray on the molding.

I'm going to do a little wetsanding this weekend (never got to it last weekend, for those that knew). I'm going to hit the b-pillar at the paint break where the in-service pic of the car TX DPS is painted white. If it's the same car, it was repainted black before being sold. My car then received another black paint job a few years back. So, I'm hoping for 2 layers of black paint followed by some TX DPS white.

I'll post pics of the results when I have them.

chp1982 03-14-2017 02:25 PM

Fingers crossed for the amazing find that would be.

28HopUp 03-14-2017 02:46 PM

Given the luck you've had finding Build Sheets, I am hopeful for what you will find... :) It would be awesome if your car shows signs of having been painted like the 1982 TxDPS test unit -

Two antennas on the back? That would give you a pretty definitive answer.

I only see one antenna...and it looks like a mag mount.

chp1982 03-14-2017 06:11 PM

Ah, I see the other is a light. Your car also has rocker moldings like the pictured car.

Had a private paid-service with some of the State's earliest computerized records run it for me. No record found.

TX says the old hard copies cannot be located. I'm sure there's a box of 'em somewhere.
