Winterpark SSP 01-23-2008 09:29 PM

Hello!

Hey Guys,

A little late on my introduction but here it goes. This is the first Mustang I have owned but have been allured to them since my friends father owned a new '86 GT in highschool! I don't think there is ANYTHING manufactured that sounds better than a Mustang with long tube headers and flowmasters, period.

As for my personal backround, I jave been car crazy since I was potty trained (maybe before). I in the last 15 years alone I have owned at least 30 cars from 911 Turbo's, ZO6 Corvettes, M3's, Viper's, Z's etc. I am also a car collector and the SSP was an obvious choice to add to the collection. I will post pics as I have been taking them along the way as I have been performing much work.

As for employment, I work for Johnson & Johnson as an Oncology Specialist in Connecticut. I have been in the pharmaceutical arena for 15 years specializing in cardiology, neuroscience, intensive care, oncology to name a few.

I perform all the work on my cars myself with the exception of paint/body work and some electrical. My garage has about everything you need including a lift.

I am excited to be an active member and look forward to meeting all of you at some point in the future . Thanks for all your input thus far.

Welcome Guys.:welcome:

chp1982 01-23-2008 11:23 PM

Barry- Awesome car that probably lived a very plush life. I lived one town over from Winter Park, a small, extremely upscale lakefront area. Very cool car, welcome.

Winterpark SSP 01-24-2008 10:53 AM

Thanks

The car still has it's original paint and after wet-sanding it with 2000 grit paper and hi speed buffing, the finish is absolutely perfect.
I will have bumper covers and moldings painted (already removed from car) original Winterpark decals applied and we should be on the home stretch.

Thanks for the compliment.:)

I'm sure it's going to look great when it's done.

Hello everybody !
Newbie from France. I own a '67 Mustang (nobody is perfect ...) but I've a project: to buy or built a 82-86 CHP Mustang. Maybe it's only a crazy dream, I come here to get some informations.
I'll surely ask stupid questions here, be forgiving for me and my poor english...

Welcome. No big deal about the poor english.

Check out the CHP resto doc, SSP history and FAQ.

ImEvil1 02-20-2008 08:51 PM

:welcome: In addition to what Brian said, there happens to be a member here selling a 1985 CHP Mustang. Maybe it's not such a crazy dream. :)

I'm ecstatic to have just recently purchased a 1990 TX DPS SSP! Now I just have to go pick it up in early May! Since I'm addicted to Mustangs and will be a college grad in just a few weeks, my goal is to start my own car business in about three years, offer restoration and fully-enclosed transportation services. First, more experience in the auto industry... hopefully sales at a Ford dealership, but any dealer will do! I'm up in NH.

Welcome to the site Joe!

stadair 12-06-2008 12:28 PM

Hello!

This past summer I picked up my first SSP Mustang. In the process of researching its past. I picked it up from CA. It was originally painted black & white, but don't konw it it was actually a CHP. Second color was a nice dark gray. It is now a medium green.

This is my 5th Mustang. First was an '83 GL hatch 2.3 4-speed, then an '88 LX 'vert 2.3 5-speed, followed by a '90 LX 'vert 5.0 AOD (which I still own). After that an '87 LX hatch 5.0 5-speed.

With this SSP, I plan to make it look like it did on the outside, but modify the drivetrain a bit.

Welcome to the forum Toshi. Did we meet each other at MOCSEM Mustang Memories car show this year in Livonia? I had the 92 Florida Highway Patrol SSP parked next to Saraphim's 92 Michigan State Trooper SSP.

28HopUp 12-08-2008 11:15 AM

Hi Toshi,

Welcom to the forum! I too have a CHP Mustang (mine's an 85). Post up a few pics when you are able. Mine was painted dark "Toyota" gray by the CHP prior to auction.

You can read and learn quite a bit here. I joined in October and already have learned alot. My suggestion would be to keep reading as much as you can.

Your car, as a former CHP, should have its unit number painted in the driver's door jam, either above or below the door's data tag. Mine was painted in the driver's side window, but if yours is in the doorjam you should be able to read the raised numbers through the top coat of paint. Otherwise, some gentle wet sanding may be needed in that area (I used a heat gun and super-sticky duct tape when I looked for mine).

Good luck with your project!!!

Yes we did. Nice to see someone I know on here. Was going to call Saraphim but lost his buisness card. But have found a lot of answers to my questions here already.
