Anyone know what the blue lights under front bumper cover are?

1989 Tx DPS SSP 07-12-2013 10:52 PM

Could be Par 36's.

Tom

If you blow up the pic the one on passenger side appears to be in a square box? Any way to tell for sure if they're Par 36's?

kapracing 07-12-2013 11:13 PM

Does anyone have any info on what any of the holes in earlier pics were for or what type of lights are under bumper. It's been suggested they could be Par 36's...

ImEvil1 07-12-2013 11:36 PM

PAR 36 is just a bulb size; not the brand or type of light. I have the original article and will take a look, but I'm guessing it won't be easy to figure it all out without talking to someone who worked there back then.

Ok thanks Mike! I did find a officers name that drove a 83 in a old article. I'm gonna call in a favor and see if he's still around and if we can make contact or not.

Wow, to find one of these is amazing enough but one as straight and rebuildable as this one? I'm blown away!! Congrats again Bobby!!

Thanks Brad ,
I've been searching for one almost as long as the SSP bug bit me. Lol I'm by no means a four eyed guy but I just love the GSP's and this is the holy grail for them. I'm really blessed to have found this car and in no worse shape than its in. Eventually I'll have to add a 89 & 91 to the collection so I'll have all known years for the GSP. Then my collection will be complete! Unless I stumbled across a buildable Alabama DPS! :-0 gonna get in trouble with the misses soon... Lol

By the way Ford still has a parts distribution center on the corner of Middlebelt (address in the document you found) and Plymouth Road here in Livonia, MI. Depending on number of lights I hit, takes me about a 10 to 15 minute drive one way.

ChrisL 07-13-2013 05:54 PM

This car is so cool, so freaking cool. With as fast as you move, I know we are going to see it bright and shiny again soon. Thanks for contributing to saving so many of these wayward foxes :)

I've only owned one other four eyed SSP (the Ga DOR) and I don't recall this... Anyone seen this before?

FoxChassis 07-13-2013 10:38 PM

For some reason the '83s had two evaporative emissions ("charcoal") canisters. My '83 GT also has two.

Ok Kewl, Thanks again Mick !

kapracing 07-14-2013 03:17 PM

Well I've got good news for the 83. About five years ago I bought a 83 5.0 4spd coupe black with red interior. It had been sitting for years and was a one owner car with 88k miles. As some of you know I've never been much of a four eyed fan so I sold it to a buddy of mine ( the same one that got my TX DPS). Well he traded it off, they traded it to someone else. Long story short Robby just traded for it back. It's still untouched and just as it was when I bought it. I helped out on the paint job on the DPS so he decided that I should have the complete drive train from this 83 as it is period correct for the GSP. Even the single exhaust is in good condition! It's really good when things work out this perfectly :-) will post donor car pics soon...

MOstang 07-14-2013 03:25 PM

Wow...it's amazing how things can work out like that.

nighthawk756 07-14-2013 03:35 PM

Wow, talk about a perfect donor car. And not only that, it's not an unknown, you're already familiiar with it......that's great Bobby!!
