Sam: What part of the door tag did you think I may have misread?

I just wanted to reconfirm the vin. I could barely read it in the pic, but you are the pro and have seen enough vins to know what they are. Sorry if I offended you.

You didn't 'offend' me. LOL Just wondering if you were seeing something I wasn't.

I didn't even need the door tag to figure out what the VIN is. I figured it out from the buck tag.

I will never be able to figure out the stuff you do :)
I invision you having a basement full of fileing cabnets full of fox decode stuff (like the room full of documents just for one guy the one cop has in the second Punisher movie) lol :2thumbs:

If you know how the VIN breaks down, a few details about the car you're trying to figure out a VIN for, and how to calculate the check digit (I programmed an Excel file to do it), it's very easy to do.

There are only two printed books in my collection that I regularly refer to but I have many others. I also have dozens of digital images of dealer literature (facts books, ordering guides, color and trim books, etc.)

Found another piece of the cars history behind the glove box.
It was an old insurance card from April '98 to Nov. '98. It stated Diamond Bar CA as the city. I am thinking that the CHP held onto it or it got transfered to another state entity. Then in 98 it was sold, then sold again(when it came to OR), then sat for a few years, then sold again (my dad thinks the kid said he got it from a family member), then it dropped off the radar in 07 when my dad got it.
Here is the note I found under the shifter console. Guy was a sailor?? Dated a year before first smog record on the autocheck.

When my dad was going to CHP motor transport in the late 90's there was a last big group of mustangs that came in. They were all 1990+ years. Maybe your car was one in or after the last large group.
You can see the pics if you havent already by clicking the Motor Transport Mustangs link in my signature.
