Great points. I too was shocked that the '82 from last year couldn't find a home at that $1,500 bargain price.

Hello,

The VIN sticker on this car was painted over with gray primer. Has anyone had this before? Any ideas on how to remove the primer without killing the VIN sticker?

Thanks

Bryan,

The sticker on my '83 DPS car was painted over. I used my fingernails (carefully) and just chipped off the paint. I know there's probably a better way, but that worked for me. The paint actually helped preserve the sticker.

Mike,

I got the paint off the sticker. The place where the numbers are is darker than on your car. I can still read the numbers. The build date is 6/82. The DSO numbers are F0047, RO188, 720102. From your photo, it looks like your car was painted copper. That is the same color that is under the gray primer on this car.

Bryan,

That's actually my '83 DPS door tag.

The F and R numbers stand for "Accessory Reserve Load" (whatever that means.....has something to do with the spring rates).
