I second that idea. If you wait to long John's car is going to be sold.......

ajstoys63 12-16-2009 07:14 PM

Well let me say this... You did a fantastic job on your car... I love the car in black... That is whats holding me up on John's car. I want the black wheels on it and I don't know if the blue would have the look like yours does... It just has the "G" man car look. That administrative authoritative appearance.

Thanks! IMO, you could pick up a cheap set of ten-holes, sandblast/paint em black like I did, and mount them on John's blue SSP to acheive the same look. That way you'd retain the stock original wheels for its next caretaker.

ajstoys63 12-16-2009 09:23 PM

I have an extra set of 10 hole rims.... I just don't know if it would look right on the dark blue car....

ImEvil1 12-16-2009 09:35 PM

Any solid-color car looks good with black wheels and tint, IMHO. Not many "G Men" drove SSP Mustangs. :)

 I agree the solid color ones look great w/black wheels.

ssp91ssp 12-16-2009 09:45 PM

I think the black wheels on John's car would look killer ! I also think they would make the blue stand out !!!
Only one way to find out ...grab some cash and call him up ...
If i sell my 67 Fastback ...John's car will be Sooooooooold ...to me!!!

Thank you. :)

ajstoys63 12-16-2009 10:09 PM

But it is black... And the black on black does look sharp... And I know the "G" men drove the big sedans... Well actually they drive anything they can get, sedans, coupes, S.U.V.'s, etc.....

ssp91ssp 12-16-2009 10:29 PM

WoW !!!! Sweet coupe !!

ajstoys63 12-17-2009 05:32 PM

Your not kidding... An awful lot of work but what a beautiful payout. Both cars!!

ajstoys63 12-21-2009 06:48 PM

Well its back on again... The guy now wants to accept my offer as long as I can get the transaction completed by Wednesday evening.... What a week to try to rush around. We shall see if I can get this accomplished by then. I will keep you guys up to date.

NoDrama43 12-21-2009 08:50 PM

I would offer him 6500.00. I bet he takes it.

ajstoys63 12-23-2009 05:27 PM

The lowest he will go is $7,000.00 And then of course I will have to start the re-constuction.... Or fun. I have not decided yet. I am intrigued.

ajstoys63 12-31-2009 05:38 PM

Ok guys.. I picked up the '91 ex-government whatever car today... It will be time for the games to begin. I drove it home in this crappy weather today. It ran great. The speedometer is off 5 m.p.h. I will start making a list of the minor pieces I will need to get for her but she ran well. I have to find the center console cover under and around the e-brake handle as well as do some repairs to the stupid map pockets on the doors... By the way guys what color gray is that interior considered?? I have seen that the pockets can be purchased as kits...

ImEvil1 12-31-2009 05:42 PM

Congrats...and it's titanium for '91.

ajstoys63 12-31-2009 06:05 PM

Ok because looking at those door map pockets are really sad and I would like to start with them and the center console and ash tray repair... Oh and f course the carpet, new spare tire that holds air, trunk lock needs to be installed correctly, etc., etc.... Where is a good place to get the door pockets?? I really wouldn't care if they weren't there but I think the holes would be unsightly. I have to repair the door armrests also.. plugs are missing and they look sad to... Basically just a little worn here and there. Can the speedometers be recalibrated?? By the way thanks..

NoDrama43 12-31-2009 07:09 PM

congrates on the purchase !! Nothing like a late Christmas present for yourself. :) It will make a nice car once you get the little stuff fixed.

MOstang 12-31-2009 09:03 PM

Congrats on your acquisition AJ.

jpargo 12-31-2009 10:48 PM

ajstoys63 01-01-2010 10:40 AM

ajstoys63 01-02-2010 08:33 AM

I uploaded a picture from the day I picked up the car.. I will update it when I get her all cleaned up..

ajstoys63 01-02-2010 08:47 AM

Where is the best place to get the interior parts that I need/want for this car??

NoDrama43 01-02-2010 09:21 AM

1. Ford Motor Company

2. Fox Mustang Restoration

3. 5.0 Resto

4. CJ Pony Parts

5. Ebay

6. Craigslist

7. other forum members

8. swap meets

disclaimer ........ no specific order intended.

ssp91ssp 01-02-2010 09:26 AM

AJ, you pulled the trigger ! congrats ! enjoy the car ..

ajstoys63 01-03-2010 08:10 AM

Well I know the first thing I have to get is a front tag holder... You know us Jersey folk have to have our front tag proudly displayed. Also thank you for the info. I already touched base with CJ Pony parts to get the o.e.m. air filter assembly.

NoDrama43 01-03-2010 08:26 AM

I usually try Ford Motor Company first. There are many parts still available from the dealer. I ordered a bunch of stuff one time from 5.0 Resto and most of it came in original Ford packaging. I checked with the dealer and found i could have bought it all there and some of it was cheaper. Lesson learned....

I agree. Check your local Ford Dealer for pricing.

I was looking for the plastic door panel anchors. Couldn't find them at my local Murray's Auto Parts. Walked next door to the Ford Dealer. Not only did they have them, but the parts guy just gave me the dozen I needed. No charge! Glad I didn't order any through a catalog.

ajstoys63 01-05-2010 05:22 PM

Well I ordered the tag bracket... $25.00 I am making a list for all of the interior stuff and I would like to put the exhaust back to stock as well. It has a brand new "X" pipe ad exhaust but it really is a little loud at 55-60 mph. I can't stand that so I will have to change it over. I found a new old stock "H" pipe for $300 on E-bay and I think I can find the factory exhaust too...

mac88chp 01-05-2010 07:44 PM

Congrats on your purchase. Check the rear-end gearing as it may have been changed and is what is causing your speedo reading to be off. Seems consistent that it was owing to your intake and exhaust not being stock either (the three most popular areas to mod with these cars by the masses).

ajstoys63 01-05-2010 08:00 PM

You may be right... My friend was doing 55 and I was doing about 62... I could tell I wasn't going that fast, it may have been everyone flying past me, I really want to put the car back to stock. I can't stand the drone on the highway with this exhaust and I have no plans on racing it so that is why I will look into stock exhaust and intake... I may put a K&N filter in it but that will be the extent of its go faster stuff.... Don't get me wrong I like to drive fast but I just want this car correct.

If you find the stock exhaust and they have several send me a PM. I am needing stock exhaust for several cars.

ajstoys63 01-06-2010 09:43 PM

I assume you are looking for the exhaust systems not the "H" pipe?? I am trying to track them down on-line and I have some friends at Ford that are looking also for me. The tough thing is the shipping costs. But I am sure it will work out. I will be sure to let you know what and where I find them.. No problems my friend!!

Wow, good luck finding stock exhaust, even used they're hard to come by!

ssp91ssp 01-10-2010 01:51 AM

Aj,
The people i work for also own a Ford dealership that's been around for a while ... I will ask if they have any of the parts you need .

ajstoys63 01-10-2010 09:03 AM

Thank you..I really appreciate all of the support from this gang. Yes the exhaust is being a challenge. I found 2 factory "H" pipes on Ebay... One not to far from me and the other up north somewhere. My '91 has an aftermarket BBK "X" pipe and aftermarket cat-back system. It is very raspy and I really don't feel the power gain. The car is a little obnoxious on the highway at 55 m.p.h. I have been looking everywhere for the rest of it. I really want it back to stock. I will tell you another tough one that I can't find is a stock mass air roller cam for a 5.0. I need it for my other car. I made the mistake when rebuilding the engine of putting the Ford Racing cam that I was told was near stock and it is B.S. the car doesn't idle smooth like I want it too. I converted the '84 LTD LX over to mass air S.E.F.I. but the cam is just too rough for my liking. The car also has a '91 Mustang engine in her. I have had her since 1990 and has been through alot with me. I don't race these cars I just like them to run well... Thanks again.

ssp91ssp 01-10-2010 02:16 PM

Aj ,
I'm into Drag racing , i have a 0 mile fac roller cam and would trade you for the Motorsport cam you have ...
Yes , my cam is brand new !

did you view my cars ???? we love fox cars ... !!
