Here's another shot from Bobby. Still needs to be buffed out, but it is coming along nicely!

Wow looks excellent!!! Getting close

Thanks! Here's another shot from Bobby. The roof ended up taking a great deal of time to repair, but it looks like time well-spent!

FHP813 02-12-2016 08:01 PM

Looking good Bill! Nice job Bobby!

kapracing 02-12-2016 08:15 PM

Thanks guys!
But since I've become manager I do not get to do as much hands on as I did before. I've got a great team working for me though. I did jump in on the roof as it was not to my standards first go around. After many many hours of blocking (by both my tech and myself) she now looks great! That all that matters is the end result... So I can't take all the credit on this one.

They're not quite done polishing it out, but it's getting closer.

Sooo close. Looks great! Have you booked the trip to Georgia yet? :D

Visiting Bobbys shops is a wonderful motivating experience, I have considered setting up a booth outside and conducting tours Lol

NoDrama43 02-25-2016 10:30 AM

I REALLY like that color. On this side of the country I bet it is the only one at a show. I will never forget showing up in Nashville in 2004 and finding 8 other cars identical to mine.

looking good Bobby. Keep cracking the whip down there.

smunczen 02-25-2016 12:19 PM

I like the color also. It pops

28HopUp 02-25-2016 12:30 PM

Thank you, gentlemen! I think the car will look awesome and I will get a great deal of enjoyment from it (i.e. to work on, drive, and show). I realize that a non-State agency SSP with an automatic transmission may have limited appeal, but red is somewhat unique for SSPs Mustangs and the color really POPS. Being a red marked unit originally from the other side of the country will certainly make it eye catching at a show (I'm keeping the markings on magnets for now). I am getting very stoked about this SSP, as you can imagine.

Thanks! Here are some pictures that Bobby took today. I'm very happy to see that the state of Washington exempt license plate was included with the car when the "museum" shipped it. I had been meaning to ask Bobby about it since the plate was not included with the paperwork I received. :)

Bill it is a copy (flat) plate but looks real from a distance:2thumbs:

Love those PCSD SSPs...looks great.

Thank you, Mike! Like I said before, I'm getting pretty stoked about it!

I will need to reserve a trailer soon. I have the travel dates set for the most part. I also will line up a storage garage outside Charleston for the 94 Cobra, which Jack will be able to access/swap with the 89 Ranger that he has down there now. I figure if I bring the Cobra down now it will be one less thing to worry about when we move to SC later this year.

The font-end is on (minus the hood)! And yes, that is a CARLITE sticker on the NOS 1/4 window. Wish I could get another for the driver's side, but that is not in the cards at this time.

Unmrkd 03-01-2016 06:49 PM

Hey Bill, I paid a visit to Bobby today and saw the car. I think you will be very pleased!! The fun can really begin now with all the detail work and mechanical tweaks to get it to your liking. Be sure to use some fender covers - Bobby said something about hurting the first one to put a scratch on it.

28HopUp 03-01-2016 09:21 PM

Haha! I was hoping that I'd get to see you but Bobby told me you came by today. Will you be attending any MCA shows this year? Myrtle Beach (somewhat close to you) looks doable for us.

Unmrkd 03-01-2016 11:55 PM

Bill, we won't be able to make Myrtle Beach show but will be attending the Indy show earlier in Sept. Have a safe trip down to pick up the car and dust off your tool box for the tweaks I know that you will want to make. I may have some parts such as A/C bracket etc. I'll go scope out the shop to see what I have. :)

28HopUp 03-02-2016 09:49 AM

I appreciate it, Gregg! We will be taking a pass on Indy. Too many things happening in September already. But we should cross paths more frequently once we relocate to SC later this year.

Here are a couple of photos from the weekend. The first one was taken right after the car was loaded at Bobby's shop (it is just parked on the trailer at that point). I saw about 20 deer on the ride back from Georgia, but thankfully I did not meet them up close and personal. We got home around midnight last night. The second shot shows the car still wrapped up this morning (yes, that's frost on the car!). The U-Haul trailer worked great, and our Eco-Boost F150 performed flawlessly. It was a long weekend, but a great one.

The car looks fantastic! I am extremely pleased with the work that Bobby and the shop did to the car. The car runs nicely, and I was able to drive it around the neighborhood this morning (the car is insured but not yet licensed). It's nice being back in a SSP Mustang again. I will need to address some items requiring attention. For instance, I need to make sure there's anti-freeze in the radiator, now that the car is up north (for now!). I will post up more photos, but the car is quite dirty after its long ride home.

:)

28HopUp 03-07-2016 02:18 PM

Here are some photos that Bobby had sent me late last week. I will get interior and engine bay shots later.

And yes, it does look that nice in person too! :D

Outstanding work guys!! Car looks amazing...

28HopUp 03-08-2016 12:04 PM

Thank you, gentlemen! I am VERY happy with the car. The weather this week should be warm enough for me to turn on the outside spigot so I can wash the car and clean it up. Trailering the car across 2 miles of dirt road due to a road emergency detour sure got it dirty (shhh... don't tell Bobby about that!). Assuming all goes well with DMV tomorrow, I should be able to drive it to a Cars & Coffee show at my Masonic lodge this Saturday. :)

Looks fantastic, glad it made it home safe and sound. Fun begins now!

Yes sir! I drove it to work today and will take it through DMV inspection this afternoon. The car seems to run fine. The trans was rebuilt with a shift kit, so it bangs the gear changes as you might expect (but not too bad). The car rides like a maintained 28 year old Fox Mustang. I forgot how rough they feel compared to newer Mustangs. It's all part of the experience, and I am really enjoying myself with this car. :)

As expected, the car failed DMV inspection. I was THIS CLOSE to getting past the safety inspection (due to the car's age I believe), but the second inspector had a trainee so she put me through the ringer to show him all that could be checked. It failed for the passenger-side highbeam and the two license plate lights. Emissions were a-OK, as was everything else. So I was able to get a 30-day temporary paper plate that allows me to drive the car. I will jump the headlight issue and give a look-see on the rear decklid for those lights. I got to run it a bit on I-95, and she seems pretty solid.

Indeed it is! :D

And to erase any doubt, attached is a photo of the dirty car sporting its 30-day t-tag.

Thanks Jim! This will be a fun SSP for me. The Cars & Coffee Social we had at my Masonic Lodge yesterday was nice for being our first one with only word of mouth publicity on FB. We had -

2 Corvettes
1999 Viper
1934ish Dodge pickup
2 Triumph roadsters
2 Mustangs
2 Harleys
3 mini-choppers (Shriners)

And a bunch of people who came to socialize. These meetings started out as a coffee get-together on the 2nd Saturday of every month, and I turned it into a Cars & Coffee social. 'Wish the picture was better, but you get the idea.

Wow it really turned out nice! Great job!!
