Got around to putting engine on stand. I knew engine had been replaced but I ran the numbers which are M 176505. This engine is from a 1991 GSP mustang from the batch of 91 cars ordered by the GSP. This car was purchased from the state by a big dealer of these cars in Cleveland Ga. So evidently the guy that bought this car from them blew the engine and came back to the for a replacement engine. A good friend of mine just purchased the remains of the only two GSP's they had left after all these years. They had been out back since purchased from State auction (both were wrecked in service). One was a ACE car and had 17 Lightning bolts on the doors :-) But i mentioned all this to say I looks like 1FACP40E2MF176505 a 1991 GSP was wrecked in service and parted out long ago :-(
At least the engine ended back up in another GSP car! While I'd prefer to have the original engine I guess this would be the next best thing...

nighthawk756 08-14-2013 11:33 AM

Yep, if it had to be replaced....the very next best thing from original doesn't get much better than another GSP motor!!

That makes for a cool conversational tidbit about #2217... :)

What would have been even cooler would have been if they (the dealers) would have still had THAT 91 body out back:-)

Yup! I know that you'd like to find a 91 GSP too (which I am confident that you will). :)

That 88 ACE car will be a really Kewl resto itself! It's consecutive Vin numbered with my 88! And 17 lightening bolts. That officer was real hotshot! Gonna get up there soon to get roof(badge)and perm/unit #'s before I go talk with my contact...

Bobby, look what I found on AC -

http://vsvin.info/vin/1FACP40E2MF176505.html

It was last tagged on 5/13/2013 in Bonaire, GA. Maybe you can run some Craigslist wanted ads like you did on the 83???

Nice job, Bobby! (sorry I missed your text. I was getting some 1/4 mile seat time yesterday at a private track rental. Ran a new best with the 2012 of 12.4xx at 113mph. To refresh, it's a 5.0L/auto with 3.15:1 gears and a stock tune - just have GT500 mufflers as the only performance modification). :)

Got rear bumper painted... Man I've never been a fan of the 90-92 GSP rear bumpers being twilight blue instead of ultra blue.... But that's the way they came soooo....

Now the buffing begins :-)

Still have to paint hood; trunk lid; fender extension etc... :-)

Yea 90 thru 92's came that way. Just the Ultra Blue cars, the Regatta ones 88 & 89's did not...

My 1992 MSP Mustang is the same (using Twilight Blue)...my understanding is they had to choose a factory color for the bumpers. Now I suspect if an agency was to throw more money at it they probably could have had in same special order color as the cars, but I don't know.
