11/01/2011 Update

Gentlemen, I just spoke with Robert, and he confirmed that he was NOT able to find the following cards:

851963
870559
408337

:(

The following cards are currently being searched for:

389583
895333
408362

EDIT: I just checked the Excel sheet I use to keep track of the card requests. Presently, not including the 3 cards listed above, there have been card requests on 29 CHP vehicles (not just Mustangs). Of those, only 12 cards have been found and forwarded to the owners, and 5 have only been seen via FAX. So we're seeing about a 58% success rate so far. Let's hope the next three will bring up the average slightly.

:)

kapracing 11-01-2011 10:41 PM

Thanks... All I new was the# written on my drivers door. I noticed you've added 38 as the prefix to my unit #. So would my tag read E389583 ? If so how were you able to determine that? Thanks again for all you've done for this hobby.

Mustang Kid 11-01-2011 11:06 PM

:( Darn...
I was hoping that since my car (8337) might have been sold in the mid to late 90s that the card may still have existed. Looks like it definately doesnt now. Oh well, thanks for trying Bill! You are a great help:)
Is there anyway I can get a blank card? Would it be illegal to recreate my card (with the info I have and info I may learn in the future)? I don't think that has been done before:D

That's an educated guess at this point, which was done by looking for other 1990 CHP cars. mac88chp (Michael) chimed in on your car to help me determine the first two numbers. But I'm not 100% certain at this point. There were years where more than one prefix was used by the CHP, where the number of plates given to the CHP to issue was determined by California DMV. For example, we know that some earlier 1982's were 85xxxx, but the run of 1982 SSP's had 87xxxx numbers.

kapracing 11-02-2011 08:49 PM

Oh ok well thanks just the same, more than I had lol. Maybe your contact can find it's card :-) I've still got my fingers crossed... Are the late 80's and 90's turning up more than the four eyed one's? Just curious... Thanks, once again

28HopUp 11-03-2011 08:37 AM

Searches for the 82-88 cards have been more successful than the latter years. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I tried to copy and paste from the Excel sheet I use to keep track of the requests, but the data does not post well in a format that's easy to read on a forum.

kapracing 03-06-2012 11:46 AM

Hi Bill, just wondering if your contact has had any luck on finding any of those last assignment cards? Mine in particular lol :-)
Glad Thanks, Bobby

28HopUp 03-07-2012 10:58 AM

Bobby, nothing yet to report. Hang in there!

kapracing 03-07-2012 11:40 AM

I certainly will, Thanks again, your doing an awesome job!

That's a pretty good one, Andy. clown1

I would like to make another pass at getting assignment cards for members. If you have not received a definitive "card not found" response from me before, can you give me your car's number? Once I have a list together, I will try again and see what can still be found.

Thanks!

:D

Mustang Kid 07-09-2012 06:35 PM

Hey Bill :D
I know 8337's card was confirmed, but I don't think these were
408362
435281
870300

I might try and look closely at the plate on the Last CHP Mustang photo, my dad took a pic of it. Would be interesting if we were able to track it down :D This forum has gotten good at that.

Hello Bill could you add Unit #0204 and #0448. 0204 is under construction and 0448 I brought back to California from Sierra Vista Arizona last February. Thanks I would really appreciate it.

kapracing 07-09-2012 09:47 PM

Unit # 9583
Thanks Bill.

Mustang Kid 07-09-2012 11:02 PM

I thought I saw this in one of your albums! Now I don't have to search:D

Lets track that baby down!!! I think it would be monumental if we found it. My dad has the last CHP Caprice, and John replicated the "Last Chevy Caprice" sign for it. He could certainly replicate the Mustang sign, might just get him to do it anyway:)

This car was tracked down a number of years ago still residing in Northern CA. It was/is owned by a young man who knows exactly what he has and wasn't interested in the least in selling it. Would be nice if it does resurface someday.

Thanks for raining on my parade dangit!
Lol

If I had the cash, I'd dish out 20k for it if it still was in decent condtion. Wouldn't think twice.

Also you you can add my dads 90 to the list, Bill. I forgot the unit #, but you should have it I think.

chp1982 07-10-2012 08:33 AM

870327. Fingers still crossed. Thanks Bill!

28HopUp 07-10-2012 12:30 PM

Very good. Keep 'em coming. I figure that I will give it a week or so to compile the list so everyone has a chance to log on and see this thread. Then I will submit them all together so he only has to look once. :)

Andy 07-10-2012 05:38 PM

I am curious about something?
A long time ago SparkSVT Chris was able to talk to someone at motor transport
and that person sent Chris FAX copies of the assignment cards. as seen here
back on page 4. and My car is in the mix.
I have been told that My card was mis filed? after the Fax was sent
and it can't be found...........that's all i know?
So what i want to know is this.
were any of the cards that Chris was sent copies of actually Re-Found and
sent to the car's owners.

28HopUp 07-18-2012 09:01 AM

Andy, if I recall correctly, none of those cards that were FAX'd have resurfaced.

Does anyone else need their car added to the list?

Rhino 07-18-2012 12:57 PM

Bill - can you please add my 1992 CHP Camaro: Plate #:E892922? :)

And...while we're at it - if you could find: E892921 (EVOC Camaro) for my friend Aaron as well - that would be COOL!

John10608 07-21-2012 12:46 PM

Hi Bill,

I think you have one of these unit numbers, I just need the vin #'s on these cars so that I can do a search to see if they are in existance.
I drove both of these units when I worked the Stockton area.
e389522, e435235

9522 was my favorite. I have photos of each unit. Would love to find 9522 and return it back to a patrol car again.

IF the cards are available, I would like to have them.
Thanks
john

28HopUp 07-24-2012 08:46 AM

Still taking requests for another week, and then I will send in the list of numbers and see what is found.

:)

Mustang Kid 07-24-2012 12:11 PM

Bill, how many cars are on the list now, and how many more would you be comfortable putting on the list?

I have a "few" more unit #s :D

Do i ask about my Assignment Card too often?
could it be that i have seen a FAX.... but not held the card in my hand
could it be that i am the real deal car guy that will have this
car forever and always know that a special part of it's history
exist and is not with this car and in it's file (at this time)
Sometimes much is said by what is not said.
sometimes people monitoring this thread could add something?
I have no way to make that happen so all i can do is hope.
I apologize for taking this much time here
and i can assure you it will never happen again.

NoDrama43 07-25-2012 09:24 PM

Andy what is the deal on your card? Does someone have it and will not send it to you?

Rhino 07-26-2012 12:58 AM

Add E385540 to the list - my old 89 Caprice I bought from Torrance MTM in 1992. Car was totaled, but would be cool if they still had the card.

Some of the cars shown above were requested previously, but it is worth asking again (especially for those which may have been misfiled after the FAX copies were provided). Also, Robert told me previously that none of the 38xxxx cards were in the boxes, but it doesn't hurt to ask. :) If you don't see your car on the list, please get back to me ASAP! I plan to make contact with Robert by the end of this week, if possible.

93chipper 07-30-2012 01:20 AM

895333

Mustang Kid 07-30-2012 01:23 AM

Bill, I'll try and have a list of the unit #s on my dads 80s-90s CHP cars. Quite a few 94-5 Caprices, if that is ok? :)
