If I were to guess, I'd say that the VIN was never assigned by Ford (as they did with the last 6 VINs in the batch of 400 CHP Mustangs in 1982). Kevin Marti might be able to find out, but I'm not sure the time and effort would be worth it on this VIN.

It would be interesting to know, since we may have more problems with these types of records down the road.

That's true, Mike. We have made a few corrections in the list of VINs as we find them. That's the nice thing about how you set up the Project. The pages are easy to modify when something new surfaces, and the information on confirmed SSPs will not change over time because we limited the pages to only show the documentation on cars as opposed to being a registry of who owns what.

Mick has come through with some more great finds:

1990 GSA (DSO #83-0114)
1990 New York State Police (never in service)
1991 Mississippi Highway Patrol

I am most excited about that last one, since it is the first Mississippi SSP added to our project. Great detective work, Mick!

Also, we started to identify VINs known to be a Zimmer (see attached photo). We are not creating VIN pages for them; just making notations on the list of VINs where we know these numbers are not SSP Mustangs.

Thank you Mick for all the work you are doing to help with this project. Years from now people will be very thankful you took the initiative to do this work !!!

Bill I noticed you only have one 1988 Missouri SSP documented in the vin file. Did I send you the documentation from Missouri HP reference confirmation of the other 16 SSP cars they purchased in 1988? If not let remind me when you are here and I can provide you copies of it all. It will confirm all of the cars Missouri purchased that year. I also have a crash report that will confirm a P# and License plate number for another car if it ever surfaces.

We could use more help if anybody wants to pitch in. :)

Checking for Zimmers is relatively easy to do, it's just a little time consuming. I can show you how. ID'ing them will help eliminate batches in the VIN Project as being possible SSPs, which in turn cuts down on the amount of work we need to do to ID SSPs, and the cost of running vehicle history reports and/or Marti reports.

I have only been keeping track of Zimmer VINs due to the database I started a few years ago for four-eyed Capri and Mustangs. That database led to me approaching Mike about what we know today as the SSP VIN Project. :D

Jim, please make copies of the MO information and I will pick them up from you when we meet for our trip to the MCA Show in a few weeks. :D

Mick, your efforts with getting this project started and ongoing are GREATLY appreciated!

This is very true. If anyone wants to do some leg-work by pulling AutoCheck Reports, we could take advantage of their 30-day unlimited offer. Mick & I could prepare a list of VINs in Excel for somebody willing to establish an unlimited AC account (for 30-days). There are 100s of VINs on which we would like to get AC reports. Once a page is pulled up on your browser, there is a way to right-click (at least using FireFox) to save the HTML page in a few keystrokes. Each page could be saved in a folder, and then emailed to me for adding to the Project. We would need to compile the list before somebody opened up the account, which costs $44.99 (which is the same cost for running 3 Marti Reports). The only reason we have held off spending the money is due to the time involved to assemble the list and save the pages. We will finalize the list if somebody wants to run and save them. Please let me know...

Bobby found some pictures online of a 1990 GSP that shows signs of having LoJack antennae on the roof:

Thanks again, Bobby! :)
