Thank you for your hard work Bill! We all really appreciate it! I love watching these pages get put up. I'll have one for you to add soon, not my car though.
|
Thanks Chris. It's fun to find cars and track down their history. Here are the final ones that we confirmed most recently through Marti Reports:
1990 unknown agency 1990 South Carolina 1991 Davie, FL 1993 Nevada 1993 Canadian SSP * 1993 unknown agency 1993 unknown agency * * - if you look on the entire 1993 VIN page, you will see that the SSP immediately next to each of these was ordered under a different DSO. EDIT: It's also worth noting that we have 57 other VINs in our pending folder that we hope to confirm some day as SSPs. Perhaps as new cars are discovered they will also confirm these cars as SSPs. |
Thank you, John10608, for providing pictures of your 1992 CHP Mustang for our project -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info175988.htm It's worth noting that the Assignment Card shows some interesting notations under equipment. Thanks again! :) ************ ************** ************* ************* ************* ************* It's also worth noting that because of the following 1988 GSP Mustang that popped up for sale on Craigslist recently... http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=4332 ...we were able to confirm 225775 and 225776 as being GEORGIA cars (previously their agency usage was unconfirmed) :) |
We now have FIVE more SSPs listed due to members submitting pictures and/or Marti Reports:
1985 Texas DPS 204948 1986 ????????? 198923 88 Mass St Pol 276396 '89 Georgia SP 262066 '89 Georgia SP 284831 THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! Please keep 'em comin! |
We are creeping up now on documenting 300 SSP's. Thanks to Bobby and Jason for providing pictures on the following cars:
1986 TxDPS 231677 (4th documented SSP in batch of 10 cars) 1990 Georgia 210336 (GSP colors listed) |
1990 SCSSP

Just wanted to contribute with some pics that i took while a friend of mine was parting out a SSP here in PR, tought they might be of some interest. The car had serious rust issues beyond repair, sad... I used a few parts like the windshield, the speedo and some minor parts. VIN# 1FACP40EXLF180395.
|
Melvin, thank you for the pics! It's a shame that this SSP was parted out, but you saved it through pictures. Here is the new VIN Project page for this car using your pictures -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info180395.htm Which is similar to the following car from the same batch of cars - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info180391.htm Thanks again! :) |
I don't always post up when a new VIN page gets published, but Michael (mac88chp) recently sent in some awesome pictures for his SSP:
1988 CHP #E433035 :2thumbs: |
Wow, that is a treasure trove!
|
Our VIN Project has now confirmed 305 cars as SSPs so far. :) Thanks guys!
|
Hey Mike.....since you only paid 2k for the car I would be willing to pay you double if you want to let it go... :)
nice docs !! One of the nicest restorations out there too. :2thumbs: |
I struck a deal with Kevin Marti and I will soon have an exterior color match for each of the remaining (14 of 20) MN State Patrol VINs.
|
I have found Kevin Marti very good to deal with. Bob, in terms of the info you will be getting on those cars, it would be awesome if the Marti information also included the DSO number for those cars. Then we could confirm them as SSP Mustangs. :) Do you have any specific documentation from the State of Minnesota on these cars?

I would like to welcome kdsii (Karl) to the forum, and thank him for providing great pictures of his newly purchased 1989 Arizona SSP Mustang. Here is the ebay listing from when Karl purchased the car -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-...item3378e19470 ...and here is the new VIN page for his SSP - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info188111.htm It's cool when a car turns up that provides confirmation of another SSP. We knew that 188100 was also a SSP, but were not 100% sure of its agency usage. Since both cars have the same DSO, we now know that 188100 was also used by Arizona DPS. :) |
Bill
sending you documentation (original invoices, etc. etc.) to confirm 562 more. yesss....562 that is not a typo. 108 FHP mustangs can be confirmed years 90-93. 175 CHP mustangs can be confirmed year 1987 190 CHP mustangs can be confirmed year 1989 92 CHP mustangs can be confirmed year 1990 You will have plenty to keep you busy..... :) |

here is an example of what will be linked to your VIN.

if FHP it will be the odometer disclosure when sold by FHP.

I know what I will be doing later this month - writing web pages for 562 more SSP Mustangs in our VIN Project!
:D |
Marti confirmed that all of these are from DSO 58 150. The colors broke out differently than previousley reported. The total of 20 consisted of 1 black, 3 dark gray, 2 light gray, 2 scarlet red, 3 medium shadow blue, 5 bright regatta blue, and 4 dark shadow blue. VINs/colors are:
193392 1C Black 193393 1D Dark Gray (Smoke Metallic) 193394 1D Dark Gray (Smoke Metallic) 193395 1D Dark Gray (Smoke Metallic) 193396 1K Light Gray (Smoke) 193397 1K Light Gray (Smoke) 193398 2D Scarlet Red 193399 2D Scarlet Red 193400 3R Medium Shadow Blue Metallic 193401 3R Medium Shadow Blue Metallic 193402 3R Medium Shadow Blue Metallic 193403 7H Bright Regatta Blue 193404 7H Bright Regatta Blue 193405 7H Bright Regatta Blue 193406 7H Bright Regatta Blue 193407 7H Bright Regatta Blue 193408 7N Dark Shadow Blue Metallic 193409 7N Dark Shadow Blue Metallic 193410 7N Dark Shadow Blue Metallic 193411 7N Dark Shadow Blue Metallic |
Great work! :2thumbs:
|
Nice job, Bob! Did Kevin Marti send you something official (i.e. on letterhead) that we could use in our project? Otherwise we can grab a screenshot of your post.
:) |

That's fine for our needs here, Bob. I went through and edited your post slightly to condense it down a bit. In a few days, the post will be stamped with the date and time, as opposed to saying "Today" or "Yesterday". Then I will grab a screenshot(s) and save it all as a single JPG file for use on the new pages for each of those cars not already documented.
Great stuff! :) |
Here is a discussion from FEP about the 1985 CHP and OSP cars -
Quote:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info234940.htm It was the first car in that order for the Oregon State Police. Have we confirmed that all six of those remaining cars (234940 - 234945) were part of the same DSO? The Marti Report for 234940 also confirms that 234939 was the final CHP car in the batch, which allows us to determine that 234786 was the first CHP Mustang in the batch - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info234786.htm So technically, we now have enough documentation to include all 154 of those CHP cars from 1985 in our VIN Project! (we don't know the VIN of the single pilot car that year) EDIT: I was on vacation all last week, so I will be playing catch up on the cars that need to be added to our VIN Project. Please be patient. :) |

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info234911.htm In addition, all 20 of the 1989 Minnesota SSPs are now included in our project thanks to the work Bob did with Marti. Here is an example of the new pages added today for those MN cars not already documented - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info193392.htm I think I will give up on trying to count the number of cars in our project now, but we are probably around 455 (+/-). With the additional documentation that Jim Young will be providing, the Marti Reports that are "in the works", and other cars that are still pending, we will be well over 1,000 documented SSPs fairly soon. :D |

It is important to note that there are three critical flaws with this logic:
So using this flawed estimate, by adding up all of the CUN batches we can account for roughly 8,350 SSP Mustangs so far. :) Despite the flaws, this estimate provides a quick glimpse into how many cars our VIN Project may be able to document. This number will only increase as more SSP Mustangs turn up. |
Would you like ALL of the 5.0L coupe VINs? I can get you the singles and doubles. :D
|
Quote:
|
OK, how about starting small, i.e. the second VIN to go along with the some of the singles you already have documentation for...
Code:
1984 |
Thanks Mick! I will get those added tomorrow.

I would like to thank Bobby/kapracing for sending in photos of our project's 10th South Carolina SSP - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info183656.htm It is also interesting to note that this SSP is from the same 78-car Consecutive Unit Number batch as the New Mexico SSP that CNTLOSE recently purchased - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info183695.htm :) |
Quote:
It would be interesting also to know if the second cars were optioned the same as the first. Color trans etc... |
Bobby, a Marti Report would tell us that. The batch of 1990 SC cars with the earlier VINs (like this one) are obviously from a different DSO. It is interesting that VINs for the higher DSO number (22-0142) were produced ahead of the car(s) with lower DSO number (22-0078).
|
With Google's help...
I used Google over the weekend to find some pictures for our project. We just added the following 1986 Oregon SSP:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info208296.htm ...which has the same DSO as another car in our project that we suspected as being an Oregon SSP, but we were not 100% sure of the agency because of the pictures we had: http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info208299.htm So the newly found SSP confirms the agency for one we already had in the Project. :) |
good detective work.
|
Bill I located docs on another 97 FHP cars. It all goes out tomorrow USPS to you.
