:welcome: In addition to what Brian said, there happens to be a member here selling a 1985 CHP Mustang. Maybe it's not such a crazy dream. :)

I'm ecstatic to have just recently purchased a 1990 TX DPS SSP! Now I just have to go pick it up in early May! Since I'm addicted to Mustangs and will be a college grad in just a few weeks, my goal is to start my own car business in about three years, offer restoration and fully-enclosed transportation services. First, more experience in the auto industry... hopefully sales at a Ford dealership, but any dealer will do! I'm up in NH.

Welcome to the site Joe!

Hello!
This past summer I picked up my first SSP Mustang. In the process of researching its past. I picked it up from CA. It was originally painted black & white, but don't konw it it was actually a CHP. Second color was a nice dark gray. It is now a medium green.
This is my 5th Mustang. First was an '83 GL hatch 2.3 4-speed, then an '88 LX 'vert 2.3 5-speed, followed by a '90 LX 'vert 5.0 AOD (which I still own). After that an '87 LX hatch 5.0 5-speed. With this SSP, I plan to make it look like it did on the outside, but modify the drivetrain a bit. |
Welcome to the forum Toshi. Did we meet each other at MOCSEM Mustang Memories car show this year in Livonia? I had the 92 Florida Highway Patrol SSP parked next to Saraphim's 92 Michigan State Trooper SSP.

Hi Toshi,
Welcom to the forum! I too have a CHP Mustang (mine's an 85). Post up a few pics when you are able. Mine was painted dark "Toyota" gray by the CHP prior to auction. You can read and learn quite a bit here. I joined in October and already have learned alot. My suggestion would be to keep reading as much as you can. Your car, as a former CHP, should have its unit number painted in the driver's door jam, either above or below the door's data tag. Mine was painted in the driver's side window, but if yours is in the doorjam you should be able to read the raised numbers through the top coat of paint. Otherwise, some gentle wet sanding may be needed in that area (I used a heat gun and super-sticky duct tape when I looked for mine). Good luck with your project!!! |
